Beanie Wells revealed Monday there's a "90 percent chance" he'll undergo offseason surgery on his right knee.

It's the same knee Wells had operated on prior to the 2010 season. It's unclear what exactly the surgery would be, but the Arizona Republic's Kent Somers believes it wouldn't be more than a cleanup procedure. Although he ended up missing only one game, Wells was not the same after tweaking his knee in Week 7. He averaged just four yards per carry over his final 10 games, and that number plummets to 3.2 if his fluky 27-carry, 228-yard performance against the Rams in Week 12 is removed.

Then he needs to get it done as soon as possible. We need the Bean healthy at the start of camp.

I'm betting he hurts something by week 5 next year at a minimum.

I dont get it: this team never has 1k yard backs, but everytime we get one our fans want to get rid of them: edge put up back to back 1200 yrd seasons and he was a bum, now beanie puts up almos 1100 in 14 games with shot knees and he is despensible? Geesh... and no 200 yrd plus performance is "fluky."

Hurt, like Thomas Jones and Garrison Hearst? You would love to see him leave and be great somehere else? did you enjoy Fitz spitting blood from internal injury?

Yes when the Bean lowers his head and charges he hurts others and is prone to getting hurt, He plays like he has a cast Iron Beanie on! His brother was right, when he was born!

Of Course you would prefer LSH ? I loved the 21 for 93 effort, but you talking about getting hurt? LSH may not survive a 4 game stretch!

I hope RWILL gets better, Beanie gets better and we are not near last in rush attempts for the 6th straight year. If you haven't noticed Our Head Coaxh is hell bent on destroying our QBs, Oline and defense by passing more than anyteam in the history of earth over the last 5 years.

I can't understand why Whiz kept playing him after he got hurt. It couldn't have been good for him and it certainly wasn't good for the team to have a running back who is not totally physically able to play. Whiz waits until the last game to sit him. If his condition was so bad, he should have been put on IR and the Cardinals should have picked up another running back.

Actually 15 teams threw the ball more than 500 times this season, that put us middle of the road.

I love Wells but for crying out loud he can't handle the attempts he gets now.

It's easy to sit here and second guess the coach. He only had the benefit of the medical reports and daily monitoring but whatever.

Wells should be part of the running attack for a long time. He ran like a completely different back this year, and had success doing so.

It's amazing that people want to run Wells out of town and are ready to turn the running game over Ryan William because "he looked good" in pre season.

No way you dump a back like Beanie with nothing else on the roster that could last more than 5 games. We do not know what kind of runner Williams will be after his injury. We do know that Beanie punishes people and is tough as nails even injured. We may need to pick up another guy that can carry some of the load if Williams is not the guy he was before the injury but Beanie is the main guy for next year. Howler can keep his current role which he excels at.

A RB coming off of knee surgery is not going to bring much in the way of a trade. Last years 2nd round RB is also coming off of surgery so we should draft a RB rather early this year. All we have now is small RBs for the most part. Hope Beenie comes out of this at full speed but after knee surgeries you should not expect him to be better. You can often find a good RB in FA or in the low end of the draft. At least one who could be serviceable for a year. Look at Thomas Jones. We let him go and he is still running some 7-10 years later. Just another position of need on the offensive side.

Too many pressing needs. I don't mind drafting BPA, but it won't be in Round 1 or even 2 IMO.

Wells is probably my favorite player on the team.

But the above is a big concern. I'm truly worried about Chris's ability keep injuries from diminishing his capabilities, and shortening his career.

Did Fitz do something to upset you? He is clearly the best player on this team but of course that does not equate with favorite. I to like Beenie but when a RB hurts a knee there is much reason for concern since we do not know how he will come back next year. We clearly need a RB or even two we can count on to be healthy at the start of training camp. We could not get enough for Beenie at this time to make it worth while to trade him. We would be lucky if someone would just take his contract for nothing.

We end up passing so much because we are often behind so often. Thus we have to start passing. We were last in the NFL in points scored in the first quarter. I think we scored 1-2 TDs in the first quarter all year long.

This is why a team needs two #1 RBs. You cannot go with one RB all season without eventually getting him injured. As it is the playing span for a RB is 4 years the lowest of any position in the NFL.

How can you say this without knowing the outcome of his surgery? I sure hope you are right but I would not bet even money on this. If our #2 RB pick last year had not been injured many things might have changed for our club. We may have won more games, Beenie may not have been hurt. We may not have needed to draft a RB this year. His injury had unintended consequences. I have heard nothing about his future for this year?
