That’s was absolutely staged Chris Rock head barely moved… Didn’t touch his face puts his hands behind his back… These guys need to do something to try and get rating up.
Uh… no. Go watch the uncut Australian or Japanese feeds of it where Will is screaming mad yelling “Keep my wife’s name out OF YOUR ******* MOUTH!” TWICE. That wasn’t fake.

That was ridiculous. As was the audience’s acceptance of Will minutes later. Dude just assaulted a comic in the face for a bad joke… on national TV. That was pathetic. As was his speech basically defending himself as “protector” and a “vessel of love.”

The I-Did-It-Out-Of-Love apology will resonate with children & women who shared a home with an emotionally ******** bully. And because that grotesque crap was excused & rewarded by society for so long, generations of boys saw this as normal behavior.

How long before another stage performer is injured for telling a lame joke or performing a song an audience member, who wants to emulate the Oscar-winning actor, doesn't like. I wish Chris would have knocked his ass into a coma.

Of course, had he done just that, there would be those claiming the Fresh Prince was now the victim. And that morally superior opinion would be backed up 1000% by their neighbor's cousin's coworker's husband in law enforcement who says you should just ignore this behavior & walk away.

Yep.

Smith is a lot bigger than Rock, too. I wonder if Smith would have been so "tough" had Duane Johnson told that joke....

First off, I just want to point out that I do NOT remotely condone what Will did, but apparently Chris has had a history of picking on him and his wife in the public sphere:

Then again, this is also the price the Smith's pay for being public figures.

My personal take is, Chris became the face (no pun intended) of all the public scrutiny that the Smith family has endured across the years, and Will (wrongly) took it out on Chris.

I just think of all the crap Ricky Gervais has given Mel Gibson over the years and all Mel did was make some awkward insults when they met on stage.

Totally weak move by Smith as was the support he received afterward showing just how detached from reality much of that audience is.

And if it was staged(don't buy it) then equally poor judgement by agreeing to it and some publicists should be out of work today if true.

I think they were sympathizing with Will more because those same guys wish they can do what Will did and have probably felt that way a lot in a lot of situations.

Is everything
Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for an outdated medium.

Award shows will be around until we finally extinct ourselves by poisoning the planet or nuking each other whichever comes first. I don't know why people complain, Just don't watch them. To me the Oscars are at least interesting enough to keep an eye on. All the others are quite ignorable and the Grammys are the absolute worst avoid at all cost.

I don't watch them(just the clips of Ricky Gervais taking the piss out of people).

100 and the masses are eating it up

That image/statement only makes sense had this event happened in/outside a bar, some back alley somewhere, in a gym, etc. Basically anywhere where they weren't in front of thousands of people in the room with them, and dozens of cameras broadcasting to millions of people. Besides the fact that Will lost his crap, these people are used to keeping up appearances most of the time.

Not a publicity stunt. The LAPD got involved and Rock declined to press charges. Having said that? I think they should take advantage of the situation. They should buddy up on a new show.

The Fresh Prince & the Fresh Prints of Bel-Air.

Monumental night. Not talking about "the slap."

CODA becomes the first streaming service film to win Best Picture.

CODA is the first Sundance Film Festival movie to take home the Oscars best picture prize.

Also the first Oscar for a Deaf male actor (Troy Kutsor for CODA).

Yes. Because Will Smith, who has been dying to win best Oscar for two decades, willingly made himself the villain and crapped on what should have been the crowning achievement of his career… so the Oscars could get a ratings bump.

Sorry. That’s just stupid. Will Smith doesn’t care about Oscar ratings and no one is talking about him winning today. Todays he’s a punchline… literally.

The Oscar’s would also much rather have this underdog story… a little Sundance indie with no stars… he the headline today rather than will Will Smith be arrested today.

People are gullible. There was no interest in this years Oscars plus Chris Rock and Will Smith needed to be relevant again even though Smith just won an Oscar. Nobody really cares about either of them until now.

Yeah, the "publicity stunt" take is being pushed by the usual anti-Hollywood RW media outlets... mostly because RW media is going to RW media.
