If the below palyers were available in the 3rd and we were looking for a corner, who would you pick? Or do you say screw the CB for another round and pick Jones or Clarett if he's there. (Bell definately doesn't slip that far).

(64) Arizona Cardinals - Julius Jones, RB Notre Dame
2. (65) New York Giants - Stuart Schweigert, S Purdue
3. (66) San Diego Chargers - Junior Siavii, DT Oregon
4. (67) Oakland Raiders - Will Allen S, Ohio State
5. (68) Cleveland Browns - Kelly Butler, OT Purdue
6. (69) Atlanta Falcons - Max Starks, OT Florida
7. (70) Jacksonville Jaguars - Shawntae Spencer, CB Pittsburgh
8. (71) Houston Texans - Keiwan Ratliff, CB Florida
9. (72) Jacksonville (from Washington) - Keyaron Fox, OLB Georgia Tech
10. (73) Detroit Lions - Earnest Wilford, WR Virginia Tech
11. (74) Buffalo Bills - Travis LaBoy, DE Hawaii
12. (75) Pittsburgh Steelers - Matt Schaub, QB Virginia
13. (76) New York Jets - Nathan Vasher, CB Texas
14. (77) San Francisco 49ers - Justin Smiley, OG Alabama
15. (78) Chicago Bears - Joey Thomas, CB Montana State
16. (79) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Keary Colbert, WR USC
17. (80) Cincinnati Bengals - Chris Snee, G Boston College
18. (81) New Orleans Saints - Travelle Wharton, OT/OG South Carolina
19. (82) Minnesota Vikings - Roderick Green, OLB Central Missouri State
20. (83) Dallas Cowboys - Isaac Hilton, DE Hampton
21. (84) Seattle Seahawks - Devard Darling, WR Washington State
22. (85) Denver Broncos - Tatum Bell, RB Oklahoma State
23. (86) Green Bay Packers - Jason Shivers, S Arizona State
24. (87) Miami Dolphins - Rodney Leisle, DT UCLA
25. (88) Baltimore Ravens - Sean Locklear, OG North Carolina State
26. (89) Philadelphia Eagles - Maurice Clarett, RB Ohio State
27. (90) Indianapolis Colts - Terry Johnson, DT Washington
28. (91) St. Louis Rams - Keith Smith, CB McNeese State
29. (92) Tennessee Titans - Alex Stepanovich, C Ohio State
30. (93) Kansas City - Bernard Berrian, WR Fresno State
31. (94) Carolina Panthers - Johnnie Morant, WR Syracuse
32. (95) New England Patriots - Etric Pruitt, S Southern Mississippi
33. (96) Cincinnati Bengals - Quincy Wilson, RB West Virginia

Next pick...

You have to follow the quality brackets, so I would wait until the 4th in this draft. Most expert sites agree that there's huge drop-off in quality after Ricardo Colclough is taken, but that next group (mid 3rd to mid 4th) is pretty deep, so shouldn't that much of a drop-off in talent from the 7th to the 13th CB taken.

I'm basing this on The War Room analysis, maybe Green has a diffrent ranking of the players, but you have to take a player in a higher value bracket if he's there regardless of need. At #64 you should be able to draft a player with a rating around 7, so you don't take a CB with a rating of 6 just because CB is a need. This is where Graves made a mistake last year (we still don't know how the his board looked like, though) and Green will not make that mistake. He'll take the BPA at every pick.

Players left from a higher draft bracket at #64 according to the War Room:
Maurice Clarett, RB
Nat Dorsey, T
Bob Sanders, S
Isaac Hilton, DE

Depends on who they took in rounds one and two.
J Jones could be the choice there. Or Tatum Bell if they did not take a RB in rounds 1 and 2.

Unless we pick up another FA CB (which is doubtful) we need to draft 2 CB.

CB in round three is a good possibilty. Joey Thomas CB from Montona State could be an excellent choice.

Derrick Strait would be great at #33. He slipping because most experts believe he's not fast enough to be a #1 corner (does this ring a bell). The guy makes plays!

I wouldn't feel very "comfortable" drafting the brother of an ex-Cardinal who was a malcontent while he was here, and I don't think that Rod Graves would be "comfortable" either. Since it is very important for Rod Graves to be "comfortable", I don't see us drafting Julius Jones.

I would be happy with any of these guys.

This guy will be All-Pro if he is developed correctly..........or he won't.

Depends on what kind of corner Denny wants -

If he wants a smaller cover-corner and the four dudes you list are the only decent ones still available, I'd select Ratliff over Vasher.

But if he wanted someone more physical (to match up with the growing crop of beast WR's), Joey Thomas and Keith Smith might make more sense.

Here's another possible angle to the CB situation - Both Schweigert and Sanders appear to have the speed necessary to play corner. (If they also have the quicks, mobility and athleticism, might it not be possible, we could draft either one either as a nickel swing-man or pure corner?)

Joey Thomas and Keith Smith in that order. They are big and athletic, GREAT value at that pick. Although if Kelly Butler is staring us in the face in the 3rd round, it will be a tough decision for Graves and Denny.

We could take Butler in the 3rd and go CB in the 4th, which would probably be smarter, since I believe Butler could step right in and start. But there ain't no way, or no how Butler gets to the 3rd imo, he'll probably get drafted by the Giants right after we pick in the 2nd round.

Isn't this fun!?

I can't see Strait falling this far, but I'd be tempted if he did. Michael Turner is the best RB still on the board at this point. Jones offers too many question marks. Vasher is likely the best of the corners, but Ratliff is very close and maybe more of a playmaker. Other tempting players would include Hilton, Snee, Stepanovich and Locklear.

How about CB Spencer from Pitt? Good height and speed (4.45)

ESPN.com is listing him now as a possible 1st rounder. Wasn't invited to the Combine, but a 6-footer who can run below 4.4. He won't make it out of the second round.

kerouac9,

With the new commitment to enforce the "no cluth and grab" rules, it is going to have a significant impact on which CB's go when this year. There will be a premium on 6'+ CB's who can run under 4.5 and this will include Carroll, Spencer, Thomas, Smith and likely Greg Brooks.
