1. Today's game was a microcosm of McCown's season. He gave you reason for hope on a couple of plays, looked God-awful on others, ultimately made plays largely on the strength of his WRs instead of accurate passing.

2. Gerald Hayes looked freaking great in the first half. He disapppeared a bit in the second, but he was hitting everything that moved in the first (including the punter). He caused the fumble on the goalline that was ultimately recovered by SA for a TD and had a number of plays in the backfield. I hope he starts next week and for the foreseeable future.

3. Boldin and Fitz looked great.

4. Smith showed flashes of his old brilliance, and flashes of a guy that is over the hill. We need a RB in a bad way.

5. The team didn't quit. I hope they play as hard next week.

6. As interesting as this last offseason was, the 2005 offseason should be even more interesting (if that's possible).

7. I have a .5 point lead in my fantasy football championship and my opponent has Holt tomorrow night. I need Holt to get less than 5 yds receiving, so I hope he gets the flu and can't play.

You need to rewatch the game. The TD pass to Boldin was perfect. The two TDs to Fits were right where they needed to be. They werent off target or something that they had to make a miraculous catch to bring in. They were very accurate long TD throws.

You guys really should invest in a TIVO!

That being said he had a poopy game overall!

I have two of them. I rewatched all three passes at the time, and while they weren't bad passes (well, maybe the third one was), they weren't great passes, either. The WRs made great plays on the ball, especially on the third one.

You must have something wrong with your Tivo. Fitz jumped but didnt have to. It hit him in stride. He made the 2nd TD look harder then it was because he bobbled it.

Even the announcers, as inept as they were, were saying that Fitz was wide open on the third TD pass and McCown underthrew it. He didn't have to, he missed. The WRs made adjustments to the ball in the air.

Wasn't that what everyone he was bitching about because he didn't do it earlier? If you want all of the deep balls to be accurate, you may be asking for too much (hell peyton manning misses those)

Sigh,

Deep balls not accurate enough even when caught?

I'm not complaining that he's doing it, I'm saying we might also be able to get a guy that can throw an accurate slant and has some pocket presence in addition to being able throw the jump ball in the end zone.

I said in another thread that I'm very pleased that Josh is showing the confidence in the WRs that his is by throwing those types of passes in the end zone.

Okay. Gotcha.

This annoying trend of "blame josh for everything" is starting to show up on the boards again. Its just getting on my nerves.

I said it before ... I'd like better competition for Josh (still keep him next year) but I'm not praying that a FA or rookie Qb will lead us to the promised land when its is a piss poor year in both classes. For some reason people on here think that every team has a QB like Peyton Manning and that couldn't be further from the truth

The pass to Boldin for the first TD was thrown where only he could get to it, and two ticks before McCown got smacked in the mouth by a Seahawk defender.

The Cards need more plays like that from Josh and his WRs.

Totally agree.... Josh isn't the whole reason that the team has the record they do. This was dennis green's first year. There was going to be some growing pains this year. Now he knows what he's got a competitive team that doesn't give up. He knows what he needs. Give him time to make the adjustments. Josh will get better with time.

The WR's are supposed to make plays. The 1st INT,Fitz didn't make the play and the CB did, even though i thought he dropped it.

I think Josh has earned his way back into the competition next season. He's playing like I expected he would at the beginning of the season. He's playing like an inexperienced QB. But, he's not the "deer in the headlights" guy he was earlier. QB position has to be improved. The Cardinals have to find another QB to compete with Josh and Navarre.
I think we need to improve these positions: QB, RB, OL, DL, LB, DB. How many players that will take and how we get them is the mission of the offseason.

There were

a couple of times we commented on Fitz not coming back to the ball. Not that I'm blaming anyone in this. We have had a very competitive year from a team not many on this board were even giving a chance for competition pre-season. WR's take a few years to really blossom, so do QB's. It's taken Wilson a few to finally start to get it. so ,if you get my drift, Wee will be a much better team next year, not only with what we've got, but also the new additions.

I totally agree and I have never said I want Josh or nothing but what I get caught arguing about mostly is this never will amount to anything stuff that flys around after each interception or loss.

He's improving on most things even those that his haters trot out all the time and still it's always the same.

IMO he will be a good QB in the NFL. For us or whoever but if we can upgrade the position without killing our ability to fill enough other holes sure I am all for it.
