I see what your saying. But if we are able to use Beanie to land Kolb or say Palmer it would be well worth it. Let it play out and see where we are in July before getting mad.

Well that's what I said. If the pick is to be part of a package for a vet QB then it makes sense. Otherwise it's idiotic.

But, as my son knows, these are his Father's Cardinals and well you know the rest of the story.

I just can't believe the Cards are giving up on Hightower already. :p

what in the world would the Eagles want with Beanie? They have a young running back who rushed for over a 1000 yards and had 1600 total yards and 9 TDs... and Cincy has an 1110 yard season last year and 1250 the year before that.

how Beanie can be a trade chip to teams that already have RBs doesn't make much sense.

I am not saying its gonna happen but I disagree with your argument.

This is a two back league and Beanie would be the ideal complement to the smaller shiftier better pass catching McCoy. McCoy is more durable too. And their QB lead the top rushing team 3 or 4 times in Atlanta so maybe they are trying to shift the offense a bit. Not saying its the case, but for you to act like theres no way that makes sense is a fallacy IMO.

I would say Cinncinatti makes more sense as I think Benson has one year left on his contract and Beanie is a hometown boy up in that area.

Likely though they are just letting Hightower walk and admiting they can't count on Beanie.

I agree. But two RBs is common now and McCoy is kinda small. But no matter who if trading one of the RBs affords us a possible decent QB then I love the pick. IMO no way we keep all 3.

Its impossible that we do. Don't forget about LSH. We aren't gonna carry all 4 backs.

Should have gone Mallett or Reed or Rudolph, but I do like the player. Just hope it doesnt mean we are giving up on Beanie.

I am hoping this leads to a QB trade and Somers mentioned the same thing on Twitter.

huh... goes to show that I shouldn't believe everything i read on the internet.

Even stat sites since there is video evidence of at least 1 fumble(about the 40sec mark).

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6368353

I don't really have strong feelings on the pick. The draft is such a crap shoot that just because you draft a player at position of need it doesn't mean you've filled that need. I have no problem taking the BPA but I am concerned with the Cardinal's ability to determine the BPA.

The Cards blew their #1 pick in 2009 because they drafted Ryan Williams?

If anything they blew their #1 pick in 2009 because Beanie Wells has been a bust so far.

Put down the crack pipe.

That is exactly what I said. Taking Williams means Wells is out and the Cards blew their #2009 pick.

You don't pass on key defensive players in the 2nd round to replace a 5th round RB. This selection means Wells is out after getting less than 10 carries a game. Stupid Cardinals.

The part I don't like is we will probably end up with a outside lamebacker in the third.

Ugh.

Well, at least we didn't draft Jake Locker or Ryan Mallet at #5.

Wells is, so far, a waste regardless of Ryan Williams.

Besides it might just as well be Hightower gone since he is RFA.

#1 They can't undo 2009, this is 2011 and are drafting for now and future.
#2 All 3 will be on our roster barring something strange
#3 All teams want 2-3 good runners
#4 This guy is a stud imo

There are some bad scouting reports out, and I read somewhere in 1 of the 2 seasons he played, he didn't fumble the ball.

The highlights they showed on espn was of a lot of draws, and you know we love draws.

Guy is shifty and dragged guys 15-20 yards in college as shown on tape.

If not for injury, he could of been #1 rb selected. Given this is 2nd round, a guy of this potential (yep) quality is hard to pass up. I've seen guys like this (minus the injured season) get picked in the top 10 in many years.

I wasn't looking for a rb, but this guy has something special imo.

We now have 3 good rb's and LSH.

Still big holes at QB/OLB/OL

Mallett in rd 3?

Veteran OLB's, lots of veterans of decent quality, perhaps a rebirth for a couple of them. Love Takeo Spikes, and always have. Still would want to address olb though

Good news is that if you have a Hightower jersey, you can just change the name and the number stays the same... thinking TH is a free agent, may ask for starter cash and Williams looks like a complement to Beanie... good hands out of the backfield, quick acceleration, straight speed as well...I say we end up with Beanie, Williams and LSH when the season begins

You guys hoping for a trade are probably too drunk already. No fricking way.

We simply drafted this guy to cut either Wells or TH. I wouldn't be as bothered if his name was Mark Ingram, since TH and Wells were not good last year (and it wasn't all the line. TH doesn't have enough burst, Wells went down with a dirty look last year.) This Williams kid most recent season is too subpar.

Some how I felt we would be at a loss for words with regards to todays picks. I am hoping this signals a trade for Palmer because otherwise this defy's logic with your 2nd round pick and having so many other needs. I am going to reserve judgement because we did get a quality RB but if one of the other 2 are not gone then this was a waste. Needs to be explained why we take him when Wiz passes so much. It remains to be seen if he will ever run the ball here consistantly.

According to the Cardinal website, Tim Hightower's contract has expired. Given the fact that THT and Beanie put the ball on the ground so much and killed the momentum so many times. It really should not surprise anyone that they took a rb especially if Hightower's contract has expired.

What he brings: Williams has the best overall physical skills of any back in this class. He is a determined runner with above-average vision and lateral quickness to get in and out of traffic near the line of scrimmage. He is also an underrated receiver with reliable hands out of the backfield. Williams is a durability risk but has the potential to be the best back from this class if he remains healthy.
How he fits: The Cardinals have tried to upgrade their running game for several seasons now with little success, even though coach Ken Whisenhunt wants a run-first offense. The Beanie Wells experiment maybe over with this pick because injuries and inconsistency have really curtailed his production. Tim Hightower has been their best back, but he?s not good enough. This offense wants to look like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Williams has the potential to be a 20-carry back and underrated receiver out of the backfield.
Yahoo
Pro Football Weekly draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki: The Cardinals' ground game ranked last in the league last year, and Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower both have been disappointing. In Williams, the Cardinals get a very instinctive, hard-charging, highly competitive runner who brings the type of attitude that Ken Whisenhunt desires in his smash-mouth offense. Williams played through injuries last season and didn't produce up to his capabilities, otherwise he would have received looks in the first round.

Sigh.

I'll wait to see how our rb corps pans out, but bottom line: the kid is a cardinal. I hope he kills it from the get-go.
