The Cards could have drafted the Janitor from Boston College and some of you homers would be defending the pick.

Unless this is a move as part of a package to get a Veteran QB it is an absolutely ridiculous pick.

Either the Cards have blown yet another first round pick in Wells or they've simply lost their minds.

2000,2001,2002,2003,2005,2006,2009... Eight first round picks no longer on the team!!!! Oh well whoever this guy is he'll be cut before he ever plays a down.

The NFL should take the team away from the Bidwills.
I like the runningback Williams I sure do, but i do not like the pick. We could have gotten Ayers, Houston, even Reed. We needed the pass rush to go with Peterson IMO, we would be rocking.

His 1,538 yards are also the eighth highest by a freshman in NCAA history. His 20 overall touchdowns is also an ACC freshman record, and his 19 rushing touchdowns ties the ACC record for any player, regardless of class. Don McCauley had 19 rushing touchdowns in 1970, and Georgia Tech's Robert Lavette equaled that mark in 1982.

Mike Mayock loved the pick and said he was the best player available and will be a stud. I think I trust Mayock more than some of the arm-chair scouts here.

Who cares what this guy did in college or what Mayock thinks about him?!?!?

This means the Cards blew their 2009 #1 draft pick. And took a guy they'll never use.

It's idiotic when there were 150 other players who could have been of more use to the team. We got our BPA in round one. And btw the arm chair scouts here have been on the money far more often than some of our 5-11 coaches and idiot GM.

I see what your saying. But if we are able to use Beanie to land Kolb or say Palmer it would be well worth it. Let it play out and see where we are in July before getting mad.

Beanie's not going anywhere. Hightower is the odd man out. He's a RFA.

Anyone take into consideration that it's Hightower that might not be coming back? He's reportedly a restricted free agent this year.

The Cards blew their #1 pick in 2009 because they drafted Ryan Williams?

If anything they blew their #1 pick in 2009 because Beanie Wells has been a bust so far.

so they replace him with a guy who... fumbles the ball... and can't stay healthy?

makes a buttload of sense.

Who said he has ball security issues? The dude never fumbled once his entire college career.

He had one injury and it was a hammy. It's not like he's got a blown out knee.

Not saying I love the pick but those "negatives" listed about him are a bunch of BS. (I dont mean you Cheese, I mean whoever said that about him)

That don't mean much. You could just resign him. Beanie being under contract has more trade and name appeal.

what in the world would the Eagles want with Beanie? They have a young running back who rushed for over a 1000 yards and had 1600 total yards and 9 TDs... and Cincy has an 1110 yard season last year and 1250 the year before that.

how Beanie can be a trade chip to teams that already have RBs doesn't make much sense.

He's our only blockingback, Whiz thinks highly of his character, and he did have some big runs. Beanies talents are more like Williams, so that could be who we are replacing.
Timmy did drop the rock 87 times, and as been reported is almost done with his paper here, so it could be Hightower.

It could be both.

He can also catch the ball. He's an everydown talent.

I agree. But two RBs is common now and McCoy is kinda small. But no matter who if trading one of the RBs affords us a possible decent QB then I love the pick. IMO no way we keep all 3.

i don't see any of those guys being valuable in a trade for Kolb.

and yet, we're still a 3-4 defense... WITH NO LINEBACKERS.

I agree with that bolded part, I just hope we get something in return rather than watch another guy walk for nothing.
