So his brain is being donated to cte.

I really don't un why he hung himself after he was found not guilty of the 2 murders. He had a chance for a few appeals to see if he could get out. Why wait a few years in jail, then kill yourself. Strange.

Because if his case is still ongoing and he dies in the state of Mass. legally it is like he was never charged which wouldn't be that big a deal except he is being sued by the family of the victim. Without that conviction it makes it harder for them to get his money. I would imagine he felt like he was protecting his money for his family.

After hearing that he killed himself I thought it was strange that he would do this after the not guilty verdict but then, still being faced with life in prison I kind of brushed it off.

Imo this makes sense because he could have learned about this law and figured he could help protect his family financially by killing himself. He could have actually viewed himself as a martyr by doing this.

Honestly, who cares? He was barely in the league. 38 games in 3 seasons. He didn't have a lengthy career with big hits like several of the athletes who were posthumously diagnosed with CTE. Besides, CTE didn't make him a thug and a stone cold murderer.

Wasn't saying I cared. Just posting up that it was being donated...

I think it's weird that days after he wins a big case, and is talking appeal on his first case, he commits suicide, and then they say he wrote John 3:16 on his forehead? Seems weird.

Maybe if he was allowed to write out, he kept in touch with former teammate Tim Tebow who would probably have quoted Christian sayings often to comfort him... people often make fun of Tebow's open religious zeal but he is a caring guy

This comes as DailyMail.com learned exclusively on Thursday that Hernandez was planning his suicide for weeks.

The former football star even gave away most of his personal belongings to fellow inmates and covered the floor of his cell in soap, according to a well-paced source. If he lost his nerve he wouldn't be able to save himself as he would slip around and not be able to land firmly on his feet.

Gotcha. Just seems strange. Are we going to just have anyone who ever played in the league donate their brains from now on?

Ya think?

He still had Life with no Parole. Those not guilty verdicts changed nothing for him.

If the family agrees, why not? You aren't out there getting all these concussions, so why do you care what they do with their brain?

Why not? The more the better, especially those that commit violent acts (and likely to have brain injury).

I don't think they are getting so many brains that they can't study them all.

Aaron Hernandez's attorney takes steps to sue for negligence over his death
(CNN)An attorney for Aaron Hernandez's estateexpects to sue state officials for negligence surrounding his apparent suicide and railed against the "salacious" details leaked to the media, he said in court on Friday.

George Leontire, an attorney representing Hernandez's family, filed a bill of discovery in Bristol County Superior Court calling on Massachusetts officials to preserve all evidence in the investigation into Hernandez's death.
That evidence is relevant to potential legal action for negligent supervision related to the custody of Hernandez, Leontire said.

This is textbook jailhouse suicide behavior. But the soap isn't there in case he lost his nerve. It's there to make it very difficult for the officers to hold him up to cut him down. Our officers carry around what is called a 9-1-1 tool. This is the exact one we use:

There's a catch-22 with carrying these things around general population. Yes it's a useful tool to cut a hanging inmate down but you're carrying a weapon that can be used against you if something goes to pot. They used to be kept in what we call LCP's or the "bubble" but because our housing units are 2 floors and pretty big, if someone is in the back corner cell on the mezzanine is hanging up and the officer sees it, the round trip to run down the tier, down the steps, get to the bubble, grab the tool, go back up the steps, and get to the cell is enough time for someone to expire. This is what our units look like and as you can see it's a pretty good haul if seconds mean the difference between life and death:

And I want that a-hole lawyer to explain negligence. Our job isn't an easy one and we can't see everything all the time.
