Scenario: The Celtics take Jayson Tatum at #3, so Josh Jackson is on the board, and the Knicks want him. The offer is Porzingis and Noah for the #4, Bledsoe, Warren, and Bender. Do you pull the trigger if you are the Suns?

In a New York minute. (ducks)

Anyway, its a no brainer. Bledsoe clearly doesn't have much value, Warren hasn't earned an extension, and Bender didn't show much. The only real item of value is #4, and Porzingis is figuratively a unicorn.

This is the dollar you pay a handful of pocket change for.

For what it's worth, there's a thread on RealGM speculating what Porzingis might fetch from the teams allegedly interested in him, and the Suns seem to be in the best position to make a strong offer.

I voted yes. It wasn't a no brainier though...I had to think about it. I think you have to do this deal because you get to keep Booker, Chriss, Miami picks, and next year's suns pick. To me that's golden.

The downside is we lose a starting PG in Bled playing the best ball of his career...but his contract is up in two seasons. We lose out on Jackson too, plus Warren and have to take on Noah's contract. However, all these things can be somewhat neutralized by retaining all our draft picks. We could also use this as an attempt to rehabilitate Knight by making him PG as well as getting Ulis more experience.

Yes, but I would like to get their #8 pick OR keep Warren. I am not a Bledsoe fan, but we'd need to find a point guard somehow. Knight is awful and Ulis is not a starter-level PG in my opinion.

Well sure, but I don't think that gets the deal done. (Of course I'm not sure that the survey question's package would be enough either.)

Knight is awful and Ulis is not a starter-level PG in my opinion.

Hard to know about Ulis; he could surprise. As for Knight, who knows, maybe he'd become more of a distributor if he had some real scorers to pass to.

But ... in all probability you're right, and the Suns would need a PG. There have to be some on the market. Rubio has been on the block forever. There is speculation that the Bulls will decline their option on Rondo if they swing a major trade. What kind of cap room would the Suns have? Maybe they could get away with refusing Noah, or sending Chandler back, and then have room for Jeff Teague?

Not sure NYK would want Warren if it's ultimately going to end up with Jackson and will keep Anthony.

#4, Bender, and a future first for Porzingis would be a good trade if we can pull it off.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking... exactly that. But something tells me it's still not enough...but close.

Anthony has only two years left on his contract and plays a lot of PF now anyway. And he might even leave a year early if he wants to join a superteam.

Pretty sure Porzingis is a pipe dream unless we want to seriously overpay to get him. It's not like we're the Lakers or Celtics where highway robbery type deals somehow magically fall in our laps.

Anything is possible right now. If KP wants out then some team will get him....a team that has sufficient assets to trade for him of course. Plus "overpaying" for him is a relative term...is there another talented young front court player we can get our hands on? If not then scarcity helps set the market price.

I love Porzingis and he is special but trading Bledsoe, #4, Warren, Bender for him AND taking Noah's contract? That's simply too much.

Switch Bledsoe to Knight or Noah to Lee and it seems more balanced, IMO.

I like Bledsoe significantly more than most here... but I'd do the OP trade in a heartbeat.

I'm glad to have Bledsoe gone because Ulis will get our other youngsters playing better ball than Bled would. Of course we need a decent head coach to help that along but Ulis is a step in the right direction. Granted he needs to shoot better but he'll learn to pick his spots, and his shooting will improve some as well with work. I think he the kind of PG that won't let his shooting drag the team down - he'll find a way to six it. I like his penetration style more than Nash's - Ulis gets right into the heart of paint while Nash tended to manuver more on the outside, and from the center all four other players are 'in play' all the time.

As far as Porzingis goes I'm against the trade unless we have enough contact with him to get a read on what will keep in the fold once we trade for him. He may want to stay on the East coast, for example. Or he might want to be paired with physically powerful PF or C. Who knows, and we need to know. Probably he puts a big emphasis on winning and without Warren or a good pick in this draft or a decent backup PG winning won't come easy. I'm not counting on Knight for any positive contribution and I'm unsure of how mny minutes Ronnie Price can contribute, if any.

Just tell Phil we will take Porzingis AND eat Melo's contract. We will throw in two Miami picks, Bender, and Warren. We keep #4.

I know, its not nearly enough blah, blah, blah. But I think we are way overvaluing Porzingis.

Would do all of the trades that have been suggested. The whole point of tanking and acquiring 'assets' is to be able to convert it into a star. KP is it. While there are probably some founded concerns about his health, he's still worth the risk.

This works for me. I keep saying I'd do any deal that doesn't involve Booker or Chriss. Add KP and you've got your 3 stars. KP and Chriss totally make up for any of Bookers defensive liabilities. This is the trio that makes the Suns relevant.

Wait... in this scenario we don't give up Chriss OR the 4th pick?

I swear... I don't know how you guys trick yourselves into believing some of the stuff you write.

Let me put it this way... if Booker was disgruntled, would YOU take the above for him?

With Noah AND Knight you've got $120 million worth of garbage sitting at the end of your bench for the next 3 years. You can't trade them. You won't want to play them. You're too stubborn to cut them......

If NY really wants to add Noah to the deal that lowers the value a LOT.
