Cut by the Pats today.

Obviously not the same guy he was with Baltimore but I think he could be a good replacement for Chike's position. Having a LB corp of Porter, Hayes, Washington, and Thomas would be pretty sweet IMO.

The talent is supposed to be there, but the dude was known to miss meetings, be late for buses etc.etc.

Doesn't sound like a Wiz kinda guy.

There just isn't room on the roster for him. Especially if Schofield actually makes it onto the field for training camp.

K9,

Do you have any info what the chances of this happening are?

I was actually surprised to read several reports that indicate there is chance he can make it back for training camp. I initially though because he sustained the ACL injury recently that we wouldnt see much of him this year and we would just treat him like a Cody Brown case and at best have him come back mid way through the season just to get his training schedule going so he is in very good condition for next year. I really wanna see what he can do after he's had the injury because im just hoping the injury doesnt impact on his aggresiveness in general and rushing ability in particular.

I would throw him on the reserve/injured list and let him redshirt a year. I'm not sure, though, how that impacts his ability to attend meetings, do workouts, etc.

Coming back 7 months after an injury is difficult, but I don't think it's impossible. Carson Palmer played 16 games after suffering that ACL in the playoffs.

That said, I don't know what the rules are governing this stuff with the NFL. Could he participate in training camp and then go on IR to get stronger? Whis said that at the Combine he was walking around, so you never know.

Yeah i wouldnt at all be surprised if the NFL has one of those rules that says you cannot go into training camp with an existing injury and then go on the IR because of that same injury.

I personnally wouldnt want to take this kind of risk with Schofield. He seems to be one of those characters that gives 120% every time including practice matches and training camps, so in order not to risk him aggrevating the injury or coming back a bit early i would just put him on the IR to begin with and just keep him there and find productive ways of keeping him on a schedule that has 100% fit and raring to go next year. We dont have a huge need to bring him in early so i wouldnt be eager to risk anything with him.

Coming back from an ACL injury takes a minimum 6 months to recover. It also depends on which procedure he received (hamstring, patella, or cadaver). I have had 4 ACL reconstructions myself. However, recovering to NFL strength is a whole different beast, I assume.

I believe joeshmo posted somewhere that he would start on the PUP list and then based on O's progress and how our current stable of OLB's perform he could be activated to the active roster or put on IR. I forget how long they can stay on the PUP list but it is at least 4 weeks into the season (IIRC it's 8 wks).

No need for Adalius. He was never as good as people made him out to be anyhow. He was a hard worker who benefitted from playing on the most talented D in the league and for the best coordinator. His numbers were really high because offenses were worrying about Lewis, Ngata, Scott, Reed and (in his last year or two) Trevor Pryce.

Pass. Bad attitude and not nearly as effective as he used to be.

Patriots release lb....

Adalius Thomas.

I know he fell out of grace with the Patriots for showing up late to a meeting, but can this guy still play football?
I know many of us were hoping we signed him a couple of years back as a free agent.
