There are two big questions surrounding the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft: Where does Shedeur Sanders go, and could the Los Angeles Rams take a quarterback? Well, there's a chance those two questions have the same answer.

Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Rams could be one of the "wildcard" teams to take Sanders should he slip in the first round.

Adam Schefter’s Wildcard Scenario on Shedeur Sanders:

Miami at 13, Arizona at 16, or Los Angeles at 26

Schefter mentioned that Shedeur is MOST likely to go to the Saints at 9 or Pittsburgh at 21

Schefter doesn't seem to believe the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants will take Sanders with the No. 2 or No. 3, which leaves the door open for a litany of teams who may want to add an experienced passer to their roster either as a Week 1 starter or starter-in-waiting.

The Rams have been connected to a few first-round prospects already in Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart and Alabama's Jalen Milroe. Sanders is a bit of a mystery given he could go anywhere in the first round and a few teams have uncertainty at the position, as Schefter mentioned.

Does it make sense to take Sanders if he falls to the Rams at No. 26? Maybe. He's a pro-ready player who would be better suited on the bench for the time being, and Sean McVay has been known to get a lot out of his quarterbacks. However, using a premium pick on a quarterback when you don't need one is always a risk when there are other positions that need to be addressed.
