I thought it was just me, so I've been patient with the adds that over-write text, but appearantly not. Currently, if I want to read the first post in many of these threads, I have to hit the Quote button to read them as the ad is directly over the text of the post.

It's so bad that I registered on the official board the other day. If it isn't cleared up soon, I'll have to leave this site.

There was a day that I read every post in here. I don't have anywhere near that kind of time today, so to have my limitetd opportunities ruined by having to find some alternative to read the content.... it just isn't worth it.

I can't belive the purpose of the ads is to drive people to either become contributors, or drive them away.

Clock is ticking...for me at least.

The ads wouldn't be so bad if they weren't full of naked dudes. Seriously anyone who creeps up on me at work now wonders what site I'm on. Probably not the best way to advertise.

Firefox and AdBlock are free. Go to mozilla.org.

I am not a contributor and have zero adds, good site performance.

Note: a few websites written for IE that use pop-ups will not work properly on Firefox.

It is good to have 2 browsers installed for times when you need to troubleshoot network vs browser issues.

No option for, "They do not bother me and I am just happy that this place is able to stay open." That is my vote.

Regarding the vertical ads on the right side of the page: If you have a mouse with a scroll button - place the cursor on the post that is obscured by the ad, hold down the control key (Ctrl) while scrolling. This will resize the page and uncover the text. :)

It's a pain in the butt, but you can at least you can read the posts.

I post on several boards that rely on ad revenue, and I have to say you are correct. These are some of the worst implemented, most poorly targeted ads I have ever seen.

OK ASFNers - Here is what we are going to do... I think it will solve 80% of the pain.

  1. Logged-in members will NOT SEE the "Ad inside 1st post of every thread which re-occurs every 15 posts or so in a thread".
  2. We will re-size the thread-display-page so that the "Vertical banner on right side of page from top to bottom" WILL NOT overlap with the thread's posts.
I hope this represents a good solution in everybody's view.

I'd like to see the naked dude factor reduced 100%, but I understand money is money.

Naked dude trying to pose provocatively while flexing with intent to promote his product to men I'm assuming? lol

Oh, and the adjustments to the ads are welcome over on this side of the monitor.

So, why do some posts and threads look like this now?

Are you referring to the size of the font in the title, or the width of the post? (or both)?

The width of the post.
If you look at the pic it only fills half of the page. It doesn't happen in every thread maybe 40% of the time.

Happening to me as well - so it's not a ad / no ad thing, it's a formatting thing.

I resolved a 100% of the pain and became a contributor. Also looks like the A$FN money will now come in handy.:)
