Admins have offered to work with us regarding the ads

Okay, guys...after filing complaints, the owners of the board have offered to work with us regarding the ads. They've asked for a poll to determine which one(s) are the most annoying/obtrusive & they'll see what they can do.

PLEASE vote for ONLY two options. If you vote for "all of them", you will be shooting yourself in the foot.

Mods: Can we sticky this for a little while? I know this isn't Cards' related, but I wanted to get Alan the most replies possible, and this forum (obviously) has the most traffic.

Is the ad in the first post supposed to completely cover the text of the post itself??? For example, I can only read the first paragraph of your post...not sure if this is happening to everyone???

The recurring ad in the first post is annoying. Don't like it, but I could live with it.

The giant ad on the right side of the page makes me want to leave the site completely. It's that bad.

No problems with the rest.

It is this moderator's opinion that Keebali could be more forth coming with dramatic changes like the new ads. Call it a courtesy both to the users of this board and the moderators that donate their time.

I'm new here, but I voted for these two:

Vertical banner on right side of page from top to bottom Ad on the 1st post

The vertical banner is the worst though. It singlehandedly made me switch from using IE as my primary web browser to Firefox and use an Ad-Blocker add-on.

The add in the first post also commonly blocked the text in the first post often making it unreadable for me as well.

The other adds I could live with(though I hate all of them!)

Thanks for looking out for us and trying to cut down on some of them!

There was a top banner that blocked the "quick links" drop down menu.
Not all of them do that but there was one that was some kind of video that affected the function of the site.

The vertical banner on the right pushes the posts to the left out of alignment on my view.

The vertical post is the absolute worst and drives me nuts. Please get rid of it ASAP. The ones inside the 1st post are real distracting as well.

I do appreciate you guys making the effort to involve the people who visit this board.

The vertical ads are making me crazy--cannot read the posts! An ad that sabotages reading a post is ridiculous.

Weird, the vertical one doesn't really bother me as much as the top one. Reading is left to right anyway, and everything still fits where I can see it. I hate having to scroll down to even begin to see the topics everytime I come here more than that.

And the in-post ads are the freaking worst.

Adblock for Mozilla is great!

I use Mozilla , but the first post ad still blocks the right 1/4 of the post making impossible to read. Do I need a link for the download?

Edit: I found the link download and it does block the ads, but now all the posts are pushed to the left and only use 2/3 of the page.

I see a recurring theme. The right post is pretty bad and so is the one in the first post. I don't have problems reading the posts like some, but I do feel it cheapens the look of the site.

I am all for ads to keep this site free, but it is never good when the ads detract from the value of the site itself.

I find them all equally annoying, which should lead me to be a contributor right?

Well I WAS a contributor until just about a month ago, but decided NOT to re-up it, based on the fact that the site was still turtle-slow loading pages, especially on game days.
I saw absolutely no speed increase once the ads were lifted.. so ya, fix that and maybe I'll go back to contributing.

I have a 30/10 Fios connection that flat out rocks everywhere I visit.
When I come here, I feel like I'm back on dial-up sometimes. :/

Firefox + ad-block plus is your friend.

If you want the ultimate ad blocker and have a few bucks, Admuncher is the way to go. This thing takes away everything including the commercials before the videos you want to watch on any websites like NBA.com.

Or if you are like me, use both!

That is a great investment.
