The Cardinals are NOT ready to contend, so they're giving ADub the opportunity to go out there & get a ring.

I don't know about that. I think they have other priorities that they would rather address. If they thought that Wilson was worth the money he would still be a Cardinal.

A dub is the very definition of "franchise player". If the NFL really wanted to get it right they would find better ways for long time veterans to remain with their original teams. Seriously who would argue if ADub was the 54th player on the roster for a roster exempt salary?
I really like this idea!

Except some team would use it as an loophole advantage and label their highest paid player their "roster exempt veteran."

I can see it in my mind’s eye - a gentle, almost graceful man, perhaps a dancer living somewhere in the roughneck wilds of Idaho, who reads the sorrowful news of the sporting day and sighs while pulling his favorite deer ever closer. He closes his eyes, perchance to dream….
:lmao:

Dude, I don't know who you are, but if your name is not on a marquee in Vegas your talent is being wasted....

Agree 100%!! Adrain Wilson is truly one of the greatest Cardinals of all-time, certainly the most loyal. But it was time. The Cardinals are NOT ready to contend, so they're giving ADub the opportunity to go out there & get a ring. I love the guy & I'll root for him to get that ring, REGARDLESS of where he lands! Yes, even in SF or Seattle. He deserves it THAT much.

This, I want him to get a ring. He deserves it. One of best Cards ever.

Not sure if there will be much of a market for A-Dub. Lots of good free agent dbs available that are younger than him. Skills have diminished significantly the last few years. Hope he does find a home.

Top 5 Cardinal in terms of personifying the team since I started watching in 1993.

Fitz
Aeneas
Boldin
Larry Centers
A Dub

Love him for his passion and hard work while here and wish him nothing but the best and even a ring. Ring of Honor here is a must.

Cards have informed Adrian Wilson that he'll be released today, Wilson spent the last 12 seasons with Az, he'll look to continue his career.

Thank you Adrian for being on the Cardinals playing with passion, attitude, and heart. One of the best players ever to put on a Cardinal uniform.

Also I bet this likely means that they got a deal done with Rashad Johnson.

This blows. It ranks right up there with Q leaving. Q and ADub define Cardinal football over the last decade. ADub will be missed.

He had his shot at a ring. All he had to do was keep Francisco from falling down or pick Ben R at the end.

Youth movement but they keep Paris Lenon and not Adrian Wilson? Something is wrong with this picture.

when did we hear Paris Lenon is staying? Hes a FA right??

My all time favorite Cardinal. And I don't think that will ever change.

I am happy for him though. Getting out of here while he still has a little something left in the tank is definitely a blessing. I won't even call it a blessing in disguise because it's fairly obvious this team is going nowhere fast. Hopefully he can follow Q's lead ending up on a real contender and be able to get his hands on the Lombardi before he calls it a day.

I get that its a business decision but it still sucks ass. There were many times when Adub was the only player on our team worth watching. He was a professional and all class.

From the very beginning when there was no reason to watch the Cards he stuck by our team; he always said he would stick with us; always said he would help build a great team; that he'd help lure talent to the desert. He elevated players and coaches around him when he was our best player (by far). He never stopped believing; never stopped working; never stopped talking up the franchise to anyone who would listen.

You made football watchable in the desert Adub. You will be missed.

???

We traded Boldin and used the pick effectively, and when was Suggs ever under a Cards' contract?

He wasn't. But he was there on the board when the Cards drafted #5. Unfortunately the Cards traded out and got Bryant Johnson and forget-his-name DL.

Mea culpa. I really wanted Leftwich over Suggs at the time and I was so wrong on that.

Adrian Wilson, thanks for the memories!

I will never forget AW being interviewed after the NFC championship game with Philly. When asked a question, I spent the next two minutes watching tears of joy rolling down his face against a background of pure celebration.

Simply the greatest moment I ever had as a Cardinal fan.

#24, thanks for your efforts on behalf of the Cardinals. You are one of my top five favorite Cardinals of all time, along with guys like A. Boldin , Neil Lomax and Kurt Warner.

I believe you to be worthy of the the NFL HOF, and I really hope you arrange to retire a Cardinal.

Our very best to you and your family sir.

Sad day for Cardinals fans. Yeah, I get the business aspect, but this still blows. Hell, this team had Todd Heap on the roster for way too long because he was the local hero. So, excuse me if I am a bit more than ticked off about this move.

Doug and Wolf had A-dub on the show this afternoon. They asked him if he was bitter or hurt. He said he wasn't bitter, but he was hurt. He said he's had some time to deal with it and talk to his mom, fam and friends. Said that, had they talked to him earlier in the week, he would have been a man that just lost his dog. Talked about how he has done charity work here and he will continue with his charity. (Mentioned that he has an event on Sunday.) Said there have been a few calls, but his agent has told him not to say anything (of course). Was asked if Ray Horton called if he would go play for the Browns. Said he has never had a problem with Horton and gave him props; however, he was pretty clear that he wants to play for a contender if he is going to continue to play.

And, I really hope he gets that opportunity. I remember wanting Aeneas to get a ring and how painful it was to watch him play that Super Bowl in a Rams jersey. I hope A-dub gets another shot, and, outside of a handful of teams (the Niners being the big one), I will be cheering him on every step of the way.
