Man...... This is a tough one to swallow.

Toilet Bowles better put a good product on the field next year. Because this guy embodies what this franchise aspires to be.

Although this is the nature of the NFL, I am left wondering if we exhausted all options with him. Would he still be here if Horton got the job?

This guy cried at his extension presser..... And cried on the field after the NFC Title game. I hope he goes and wins a championship somewhere.

Go join the Pats, Packers, Broncos, or Ravens buddy. You deserve it.

Horton's the one who first benched him at the start of the Falcon game.

AW will land on his feet and he will be remembered as a tough guy who gave his best and was a good guy.His ROH spot is well deserved when he retires.Would like to see AW with the organization in some form after he retires.

Fair enough. Here are ADub's defensive usage stats for the final 6 weeks of the season:

12: 54%
13: 83%
14: 61%
15: 40%
16: 82%
17: 81%

And it's worth mentioning again that neither of the players who subbed in for Wilson in those periods are currently on the roster. So what's the football reason again?

And what a benching it was! Hyperbole does not equal fact my friends.

p.s. I do hate this defensive coaching staff. And the offense scares the crap out of me also.

Agreed sad day but that IS the NFL.

Hope AW finds a good landing place. I sure hope he leaves on good terms so when he retires it's as a Cardinal.

The highest ranked Cardinals pass defense in probably the last 50 years. So what do the Cardinals do? Get rid of the guys who took it there. New coaches same dumb moves like when they had 4 of the 5 offensive linemen who started vs Green Bay in the 2009 playoffs still on the team and only one was still playing the same position, Lyle Sendlein. Rex Hadnot?!?!? Brandon Keith!?!? Adam Snyder!?!?

Idiots who deserve the 5-11 seasons they serve up every year.

Sucks for whoever replaces Adrian Wilson next season. No matter who it is, we'll never give them the same love that we gave A-Dub. This thread proves it lol. Wilson had a bad year last year and most of us would take a 60% Adrian Wilson over some other guys 100%. Nobody else on this team gets a pass like A-Dub gets. Nobody else deserves a pass like A-Dub deserves.

Just so everyone knows, Adrian Wilson will be my starting SS in Madden next year. I don't care where he goes, at least in my "Xbox Reality" he will only play for Cardinals :)

Nice article by Sando:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/93386/first-steven-jackson-now-adrian-wilson

We can debate how effective Wilson was playing the run vs. playing the pass, but to me that misses what Wilson represented in his essence. He was a 6-foot-3, 230-pound strong safety and a threat to injure anyone in his path. The hit he put on Edwards drew a $25,000 fine and would have been more appropriate in a 1976 game between Pittsburgh and Oakland. That was the point. Cardinals opponents had to fear Wilson. No more.

The timing feels right in both cases even though it's tough to wave goodbye. Wilson is 33 years old, lost playing time last season and was scheduled to earn a $1 million roster bonus this offseason. The Cardinals have a new coaching staff and a plan to rely more heavily on younger players. Now is the time to move on from Wilson.

Rashad johnson played well when replacing Adub for basically the last two seasons. While he is NO A-DUB (who is) He will be fine in a starting role. This of course basing on the fact that we sign him to an extension :)

Being that we are gonna suck this year anyway, they should have let him go out like Ray Lewis went out. Let him know that if he intended to keep playing this was going to be his last year.

Let him have his swan song, let him say goodbye to the fans, teammates, and vice-versa.

Classless move by Mr. B.

Just one thing wrong with this thought process and shot at the Bidwill's. AW has no intention of retiring and this release gives him an early opportunity to find a new home.

And maybe a ring. This was a blessing for A-dub.

Sad day. Still think we had a spot for him with a restructure, but it was something we knew was most likely coming.

With a new DC we simply don't know how Wilson would have performed in the role that is expected from the position.

It could be a blessing in a disguise for him like others are saying. He might get a shot at a ring, or he might get a shot at our QB on another team. Though with the reports of Seattle going after Charles Woodson then that probably takes that off the table, but still the Niners and Goldson situation might make the Niners a place.

If any Cardinal deserves to retire a Cardinal it's Adub. No matter what there was a place on this team at the right price. Maybe not starter, but he is still an experienced beast that brings the strength and toughness that most safeties simply aren't capable of.

Still part of me is sad we cut him and Kolb is still on the roster.

Good luck Adub!

This is a damn shame! :(

Business decision, money, moving forward, blah, blah, blah; I get all that stuff, and it's still too damn bad to see this happen!
There it is. All the right things are being said, so why then do I feel that justice somehow isn't being served?

Even though it is always inevitable it still stings. Sometimes more than others. This one stings a lot.

Best to A-Dub.

I sure hope he stays far away from SF. He should go to GB and win a ring there.

He had his shot at a ring. All he had to do was keep Francisco from falling down or pick Ben R at the end.

Youth movement but they keep Paris Lenon and not Adrian Wilson? Something is wrong with this picture.
