How can this team continually year after year find ways to lose games like that? How can we start both opening half drives that horribly? How can we NEVER catch a break? I mean all Green has to do is recover that fumble or knock it out of the endzone and we win. Hell we caught a break a couple of plays earlier when Jackson dropped a TD pass with help from Green, but you just KNEW somehow we'd lose that game, and we did.

Matt was terrible, he's right he has to play better or we can't win. the return games were awful, JJ didn't do anything, and Breaston was way too hyped up on at least one of those returns there was a huge cutback lane but he just ran right into the wedge, all I could think was after JJ he decided if I just do that I'll get complimented?

The defense was great but then when we had to have it, we couldn't stop them.

I really did NOT like the playcalling last night, yes the run game worked but for at least one week we turned a high powered passing attack into a horrible one, not enough 3 WR routes allowed them to essentially double both WR's. Not enough of a pocket for Matt to step up, Matt looking out of synch the whole game like he was totally unhappy with the plays, and then playing horribly himself. I really hope that is not our offense all year or I agree with Greenberg it seems like a complete mismatch of personnel and scheme.

This team just sucks the life out of me every week during the season . There were a lot of positives in the game and I'm certainly not ready to write them off yet but it's just incomprehensible how year after year we fail to do the things it takes to win football games.

I agree it has nothing to do with whether the defense played well or we ran the ball well. Bottom line is we still find a way to lose.

This fear of winning is what has to be overcome. No way we should have lost this game. As a fan of this team you are conditioned to fear the worst and never feel comfortable no matter how the game is going.

Problem is this team reinforces these fears over and over again.

This team has made an art of losing games.

The fumble into the endzone, botched recovery by Eric Green, and recovery by the Niners was a nice touch.

Glad that there are some that are still mad and cant accept this as a tough loss and learn from it and grow...blah blah . Leave that for the coaches and players. None of them have suffered the way the fans have. We dont need any apologists trying to make us feel better, just win some damn games every now and then.

I think the main thing is we all talked about this when Whiz was hired, is that run first mentality the right fit for a team with Quan and Fitz. I think it CAN work, but what we saw last night wasn't it.

A lot of it was Matt he was missing open RB's all night in the check downs, but it just seemed to me(and I am probably wrong) that we had way too many plays where we had 2 TE's or a FB in there and that allowed SF to just play a CB and Safety on both Fitz and Boldin.

At one point in the game thread I said if we run a RB screen or two we'll score for sure, next play was the middle screen to Edge for a first down. If I as a fan sitting at home can see how open that stuff is why can't the guy calling the play see it? It was so obvious they were doubling the outside
guys and just coming after Matt daring him to use the middle of the field.

Matt wasn't checking down, so call a few screens just to use that aggressiveness on defense against them.

I think that Whiz can coach don't get me wrong, but I think someone last night failed to grasp why we couldn't get the ball downfield and what was open.

Maybe it was really just Matt not seeing it?

Ahhh the art of being the AZ Cards....*sigh*
I figured we'd lose and yet it STILL gets me pissed when we do. I get all hyped up before the game and actually get some hope going and knwing full well that they've lost this way time and time again, I still think we have a shot.....then we lose....and I get that "Ya got me again" feeling...oh well, I'll probably have a similar post next Monday...lol

In one game they fixed our run game.

One game!

Let's not jump off the boat here because you see some smoke, it could be just somebody grilling brauts.

This looked like every other Cardinal game in history until you figure they fixed the defense and the run game in one night, the offense moved the ball enough to win.

We should have won, it sucks we didn't but let's not lose sight here of some hugely signifigant facts.

Give the man some time, he's got a lot to fix, it's good he's young he can afford the gray hairs he's going to get, but he prioritizes well, he's off to a good start.

I laughed this morning.. But not a laugh that anything is funny, a laugh that is frustration and being pissed off.. After the game I didnt wanna talk to anyone and I went to bed early.. But last nite during the game with 2:30 left, this female I know called me and wanted to talk.. I said no way the game was on.. She said it was over and the Cards had it in the bag.. I told her, oh hell no we dont.. And sure enuff.. Now this morning I laugh, because of all the different ways we can lose at the very end.. :bang:

I agree about the run game part... That much is encouraging. This team has to find a way to close games if we are ever going to turn the corner.

Great, but now our QBOF looks broken. :bang:

Sunday it will be something different.

BTW: What is it next Sunday Derm?

yeah-- very dissapointing that the Matt of last year's Denver game showed up.

Clearly SF's game plan was safeties deep, let the corners play aggressive and make the Cardinal run game beat you.

Frankly, if not for the disastrous sequence to start the second half, they would have.

Matt clearly does not like to play in the Bay Area, stunk it up against the Raiders last year, and now this.

Had 2 games like this last year, Raiders and Packers, really hope he bounces back we need him to.

I did not see the entire game, just the 2nd half. I must say I wasn't much impressed with the play calling. I did not like both last offensive and defensive series playing preventive. That just sucked.

I mean all Green has to do is recover that fumble or knock it out of the endzone and we win.

He had to try to recover it though. Batting it out of bounds would have been a penalty no? I know it cost Denver on Sunday, different circumstances but it was still "Illegal batting of the ball."

Wouldn't knocking it out of bounds cause a safety???

I don't think so, it wasn't in their endzone, it was in ours

I am mad again too. We could have won ugly, which you have to do now and again.

So what is the team gonna do about it?! How 'bout they go wail on the seahawks and get the frustration out of their system!

Honestly not sure. In the Denver game the penalty was because to avoid the defense recovering the fumble, the offense(The RB) batted it out.

In this case it would have been the defense doing it to prevent the offense, don't honestly know if that's a penalty but I can't see it being a safety?

But then I have to admit I didn't know that under 2 minutes rule on the fumble recovered after going forward. I guess that's from the "holy roller" play with the Raiders I just don't recall seeing it happen before.

So if Green knock out the ball our on end, they don't get any points and we get the ball back? Somehow it does not sound right.

This same scenerio happened last season to the Cardinals. Receiver caught it on the 2 yard line, fumbled into the endzone, ball went out of bounds IN the endzone. Ball went to the other team on the 20 yard line.

I don't remember the exact details like who it was or what team... Cheesebeef will remember.
