I watched a lot of NFL football over the weekend. It was a rare game where even one of the teams didn't make at least a few glaring errors. The flow of those games went up and down. And in the end, the ball bounced fortuitously for half the teams and badly for the other half.
Every week, the ball will bounce funny, and benefit or hurt half the teams.
But one variable is how each team reacts to the bad bounces. The ones who let the bad stuff get to them tend to pack it in earlier than the ones who shrug it off, learn from their mistakes and move onward in the belief that the bounces will eventually even out.
If we, the coaches and players view the SF loss as a base-line game representing "the worst we figure to play all season", the focus can be solely on correcting the miscues and playing better week by week. If the coaches can do this effectively (&, unlike the previous regime, I think they can), I really believe we'll be OK.
we got our divisional loss out of the way early. It's on. More aggressive play-calling and sharper execution, and we're there. We know the talent is present, it just needs to spark.
