Wow glad I wasn't gambling week 1. 6-6-2

UGH! That is 6-8 straight up (which is why I hate whole number odds)

You're not the only one, I got creamed. Started off well on Thursday and went downhill from there.

I was flawless in predictions until the afternoon games and then went 8-6 after that. WTF seattle and cleveland? I needed you!

I hit a 5 team parlay card and a 6 team parlay card. I'm rolling right now.

So I had the Monday Nighters so 8-6-2 (or really 8-8 unless in a ties win).

Straight up I was much better. Probably #1 or #2 in my work pool.

Pittsburgh and KC were my locks of the week :(.

KC? Wow. Weren't you paying attention to the 2nd half of last season? :) The Bills can compete with anybody.

10-6 ATS this week. Not bad. Probably would have won with Cleveland to make it 11-5 if Dalton didn't get hurt.

Sunday ticket screwed me this week. Was watching the end of the early games and one of the commentators mentioned that McNabb was deactivated for Minny. Without confirming, I pounded the SD -9 line. Would have been a solid week thanks to all the overs I took. (Cleveland screwed me as well, too much weight on pre season performance)

Wow it is super difficult to hit one parlay let alone two.

Overs and under dogs. Raiders, Bears, Bills, over in the Cards game, and over in the Pats game. Plus a couple of favorites I just knew were going to pound the other team, Texans and Patriots.

under dogs. Raiders, Bills,

Loved those picks too. Nothing better than getting points on what looks like the better team.

What do you think of this? Arizona (1-0) +4.5 WASHINGTON (1-0) -4.5

I think our Cards are at least as good if not a bit better than the Skins right now. +4.5 seems generous.

+4.5 is pretty generous. But I'll bet it goes up by the end of the week by even a couple more points. The Cards were -4.5 and it moved to -7.5 pretty quickly.

I can't imaging getting more than +4.5. East coasters probably don't realize the Cards had a decent shot to win by at least 17 points last week if they hadn't bungled in the red zone twice.

I dunno. It didn't like the Cards were going to win the game much of the 2nd half to me. It felt like Carolina had all the momentum.

Yeah, I felt the dread for a while too. But the first half featured two wasted trips inside the 5 yard line (both after nice long drives) and the refs handing the Panthers a TD at the end of the half. That's like a 21 point swing right there. Then the Cards "won" the 2nd half 21-7. Taking off my Cardinal glasses, as a bettor I like that.

The only problem is, it's hard to tell just how dreadful our defense will be this year or if we'll be able to play well on the road.

I no longer bet on the Cards for individual games.

The only bet I make with them is to win the super bowl every year. Curse you Steelers!

If history is any indicator we already have a good idea how we'll perform on the road with an early start. We've done better lately but I'd think long and hard before I ever bet on a west coast team playing an early game on the east coast. JMO but there has to be a better play. I like Buffalo and Baltimore this week and would probably add Tampa as a road dog if they get at least 3.

East coast game, home team gets three points so it's pretty close to dead even.

Wouldn't bet it either way.

KC going to Detroit would be a lock for me, I'd take Detroit even giving the 8.5 points.

I like Green Bay, New Orleans, Buffalo and Baltimore too, don't want anything to do with upset picks this week.

I think my best bets right now will be Dallas, Indy and Green Bay. Maybe add Tampa on a 4 team parlay. Houston only laying -3.5 at Miami looks tempting.

And Oakland at Buffalo seems like a coin flip to me - so I'm leaning to taking the +4.5 points with Oakland and hoping they just grind out a close score with their power running game.

Holy cow, Seattle is getting +14.5 at the Steelers.

The way to make money in betting on sports is to do something else with the money. :D

Your only real possible advantage long term is against the guys who set the lines initially, if you wait until the people place their bets you're fighting the wisdom of crowds phenomena, that's why I gave up sports betting ages ago.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wisdom_of_Crowds

Betting can be fun, the worst thing that can happen to most people is to start off winning big, then you're hooked.

Everyone has a story about someone making a killing at it, you never hear about all the losses. I'm sure someone can make money at it, just not very many.
