Kobe's going to swipe Joe Johnson's number?

P.S. you need to fix it so the right arm dangles a little bit.

Holy crap! They can really do that? I think it's about time I go talk to my neurologist. :)

Nope, he stills looks like a Laker "showtime". Hogging the ball, disrupting the Suns for 3 or 4 years, and being a complementary player.

Kobe Bryant is no Michael Jordan.

P.S.: 'Hope you can open Acrobat Reader.

How about responding to the merits of the post, Chaplin?

Only one Guard in the history of the NBA was able to be the lead player in winning championships -- Michael.

The great ones -- Magic, The Big O, West, etc., had other superstars up front.

Also, do you feel that, if Amare has that potential, Kobe could blend in? Or would it be more like KJ resenting his role as "Franchise Junior" to Charles? Koby sure resents playing that role to Shaq.

Am I the only one hear that gets tired of the history lessons? We are constantly being told that something will work because it has never worked before. There is the first time for everything. Kobe Bryant is not Michael Jordan, but Amare Stoudemire is already better than any frontcourt player that played with Michael Jordan.

Let's see,

While Magic had a lot of talent around him, he was the undisputed "lead" player on that team.

Isiah Thomas was the "lead player" on his team. In fact, the two best players on that team were guards.

So in the last 24 years or so, the teams that won championship where the best player on the team was NOT a guard were: Spurs, Rockets, Celtics, and the Lakers (Shaq/Kobe).

The teams that won championships where the best player was a guard were: Lakers (Magic etc), Bulls, Pistons.

Its hardly a dominating historical pattern.

This has been pointed out several times, but some people just won't get it. They'll proclaim that you must have a dominating center to win, and they'll do it until they're blue in the face.

You always translate this into an offense oriented center. It is not necessary to have a dominant offensive center, but it is very important to have someone who can play strong defense.

New Jersey has better centers than the Suns, but the center position was one of the reasons they lost the last two years.

Evidence?

It is not necessary to have a dominant offensive center, but it is very important to have someone who can play strong defense.

Like Luc Longley?

New Jersey has better centers than the Suns, but the center position was one of the reasons they lost the last two years.

True, one of very many reasons. They were completely overmatched in almost every respect.

New Jersey's center are worse than the Suns.

Jason Collins is only as good as Voshkul and he is their only center really. Aaron Williams isn't better than White.

I think we already have that strong defensive center in White. (who actually has some offense to his game..although it is all power)

People keep looking over him. Do you think we would have had a better chance with him at center last year vs the spurs? I think he would have given us a chance to get out of the first round..

I am not quite sure I understand what D'Antoni is thinking, but I'm guessing that he figures White is too slow for some of these guys. I still think that if he lost some weight and worked on catching the ball, he could be a decent mid range center.

Please George.

White is what he is.

He won't suddenly lose 100 pounds, grow 4 inches and devellop soft hands.

He is in the league for year.

After next year he will be much cheaper. Anybody who can frustrate Shaq will stay in the league. But for him to get more than 15-18 minutes he will have to get into better shape.

Well, Kobe Bryant is out for a month with his hurt shoulder. Marc Stein from ESPN was saying that Kobe Bryant is not going to leave LA this summer. He says the choices for Kobe really come down to the Lakers or the Clippers. He sounded very sure of himself.
