No. of Discs: 1
No. of Tracks: 9
Track Listing:

01: "Stop"
02: "No One's Leaving"
03: "Ain't No Right"
04: "Obvious"
05: "Been Caught Stealing"
06: "Three Days"
07: "The She Did"
08: "Of Course"
09: "Classic Girl"

First, I typically would post album covers, however, not in this particular instance since I would be banned from this site! :D

Seriously though..this album was "way ahead of its time" when it was initially released 15-years ago (already?) and they pretty much pioneered a newer sound then that paved the way for several other performers....

Jane's Addiction is a complete band since Farrell has one of the best distinctive voices in music (also enjoyed his work w/Porno for Pyros), Perkins is a steady drummer, and Navarro is one of the most electrifying guitarist to "burst" onto the music scene over the past 10+ years (I would admit though that his style didnt best suit Red Hot Chili Peppers), and the since departed bassist, Eric Avery, held his own as well.....

The most popular song off this album was obviously "Been Caught Stealing" (always loved the video), but the entire album was a masterpiece in itself...

I am rather surprised that this album didnt generate many responses when I initially posted it, however, I bet it could still lead to an excellent change quite similar to what happened when I "bumped" "Pet Sounds".....

Not too many probably realized at the time how influential this album would be in the world of music and also the fact that Farrell, Navarro, and Perkins are rather stellar musicians themselves.... It's not too difficult to name at least 15-20 of today's bands that would credit/cite "Ritual De Lo Habitual" to really being a major inspiration to them in terms of their sounds......

Still shocking this album is already 15-years-old... It's stood the test of time perfectly because it sound so fresh....especially in today's standards and will be always referenced as one of the most impacting albums of the 90s...

JA is my favorite band. This album rocks as does Nothing's Shocking. I was surprised that they weren't as big as Guns-N-Roses when they came out in the late '80's. There is a book called ****** that bio's this band. It really shows how much influence the bassist, Eric Avery, had on this band. He penned some of their best songs.

This is a GREAT album. I loved Nothing's Shocking too. These two albums are rather ominous sounding which might explain why they didn't get quite as big as GNR. Plus, GNR were a little more "marketing friendly" which helped get them accepted by mainstream america. JA might have been a little too hardcore for many moms and dads to accept.

Haven't put these CD's in the player in a LONG time. But now that we're talking about them, I gotta give a new listen. :)

They would have been bigger if creative differences between Farrell/Avery didn't ruin the band and obviously rampant drug use. Oh well, that destroyed several other countless bands that it never ceases to amaze me.

It's unfortunate. As I said in my initial review, Farrell has a very distinctive voice that no too many are blessed with, Perkins is rock-steady on the drums, Dave Navarro is a "home run" type guitarist (he just didn't fit in well w/RHCP during "One Hit Minute"), and Avery anchored everything on bass.

I also love Porno for Pyros, but again Farrell cannot control his excesses and it cost him dearly.

I liked Porno for Pyros, too. However, they weren't nearly as good as JA. Perry was doing a lot of crack when he formed Porno. Plus Eric Avery and Dave Navarro are way better than the guys in Porno.

When I saw JA in the '80's and '90's Perry was so wasted that his performance suffered. However, the last two times I saw him ~ 2003 he sounded great and the shows rocked.

Yeah, LeNoble was no Avery and DiStefano didn't come close to approaching Navarro's greatness, but didn't their debut album, "Porno for Pyros" have some of the most memorable songs of the '90s, especially "Pets" and "Cursed Female".

The follow-up wasn't all too bad, especially how Mike Watt and Flea contributed on bass and on some occasions Navarro lent a hand. Lord, did I love "Hard Charger" from the "Private Parts" soundtrack.

Just hope one day Perry and Eric can reconcile their difference so Jane's Addiction could fully reunite. Quite similar to how I want Matt Sharp to return back to Weezer. Why does it seems it's always the bassist leaving the bands and especially at their creative peak?

I'd put Nothings Shocking over Ritual de lo Habitual.

However, I think their original live album is even better than the studio ones. The velvet underground cover that goes straight into another cover of symphony for the devil is awesome.

True, their live album circa '88 was great. Even Kettle Whistle had a great live version of Jane Says.

I agree that the Velvet Underground/Stones medley is awsome.

Everything that I have read on this band states that Eric wants no part of JA, especially Perry. Eric is clean and sober and doesn't want to be tempted by drugs and fall back into old habits.

Eric has an very high IQ. It comes though when you read quotes from him. One of my favorite songs is Summertime Rolls. Written by Eric A. He also wrote Mountain Song and some of their most brilliant songs.

Perry has responded to numerous questions about another JA reunion that it would take $$ to rain from the heavens for that to happen. That's a shame.

I highly recomend reading their bio, ******. It's wonderful and sad at the same time.

JA is a cross between Led Zeppelin and the Velvet Underground.

I'm not sure I'd put Jane Says in my top 5 JA songs... (its funny, when you guys abbreviated this JA, I remembered that horrible dancing class thing my mom made me go to down by Park Central mall way back in like 6th grade. Wow that sucked.)

OK So I'll run through them. Brat's top 5 Janes Addiction songs

1) Pigs in Zen
2) ******
3) Summertime Rolls
4) Three Days
5) I Would For You

Honorable mention: Ted Just Admit It, Mountain Song, Thank You Boys

I recently started working with a Jane's Addiction tribute band. We should be up and running in a few months.

Janes Addiction was in Tempe last week at the Marquee. Unfortunately it was on a week night and I had to work early the next day so I didn’t go. Plus the tickets were over $100 after all the fees.

I can still play Mountain Song from one of my old cover bands. I wish I could sing like Perry.

We'll be a cheaper knockoff :)

What are the best venues for tribute bands in Phoenix/Tucson? Would it be the Casinos?
