I hope there are alot of supportive signs in the stands for tomarro's game, shawn would really feed off of that as well!

Supportive signs for Shawn? Not getting on the all defensive team?

Don't count on it.

Are you trying to say he doen't deserve it?
He got dissed "big time" on this one.

I'm saying that the Suns' fans aren't going to create signs, just because he didn't get on that team.

You have to keep in mind our fans. Our fans that yell at other fans when they stand up and cheer. The fans in the playoffs have been a little better, but they are still uninspired.

They will be more focused on our MVP, dissing Kobe in some way, or closing out the series.

Marion's problem is his listed position (forward). If you look at the four forwards who made the team, they all have good cases to be ahead of Marion, and then you've also got Battier and Rasheed Wallace, and possibly even Emeka Okafor.

If Marion was a guard, he'd be on the first team easily--no question he's a better defender than either of the first-team guards. As it stands, though, he's got the same problem that Carmelo Anthony has with the All-Star game: it's easy to say he deserves to be there, but difficult to pick the player he should replace.

Thats insane, how can he be 4th in DPOY votes but not make an All Defensive team? I think Marion is a much better defender than Bell, he's certainly more versatile at least. He's also a better rebounder, shot blocker, and gets more steals. I'd venture to bet the only defensive statistical category Bell is better in is charges taken, but if that was the criteria they might as well put Nash on a defensive team.

bell plays much better ball denial defense. ever notice how sometimes kobe goes stretches without getting the ball? it's 'cuz bell is glued to him. also, bell's man may score points, but usually exhausts himself in the effort. marion's man usually doesn't have to work as hard.

look, marion is a freak in that he can defend multiple positions. but he's NOT an elite defender. he doesn't shut down anyone. he gets routinely torched by quick players (almost every pg we pin him to blows by him - it worked on cassell, but that's only b/c sam-i-am is 118 years old. he does equally as bad covering other quicks - kobe leaves him in his tracks) and he lets bigger players back him down and score over him. does he suck? no. but he's no shut down defender. he's a terrific help defender (that's where he was most effective on kobe, coming over in help defense), but he's NOT a shut down defender.

I could understand people being upset by this if the voting parties were switched. That is if it was the coaches who had Shawn Marion 4 th on the DPOY calm and the media who had been left off of the two defensive teams I would understand this kind of reaction.

However I think it's the other way around. Shawn Marion shouldn't have been 4th in the voting for the DPOY. Look, coaches know that the best defenders are. They understand defense a lot better than most members of the media. The media seems enamored with the numbers, but that doesn't necessarily translate into great defense.

Shawn Marion may be a versatile defender, but that doesn't mean he's really good at defending any one position. Perhaps he is hurt by the reputation of the Phoenix Suns as a poor defensive team. However, that didn't seem to hurt Bell.

Also, if Shawn Marion was on a team who played better defense I don't think he would be putting up as many points and rebounds. I don't think he would be getting into the All-Star game.

He will get to see what kind of defense puts you on the first team when Bruce Bowen completely shuts him down in the next round. That is unless they put Bowen on Nash and gamble that a lesser defender can still keep Shawn Marion quiet.

Signs?

Shawn, You weren't on the all-defense team. It is ok, I think that you should've made it, as you are a good defender. I like when you get blocks and steals and defensive rebounders. you are one of the best defensive rebounding small forwards in the pacific division! (written on a large scroll)
