I don't know. I think that for all the hogwash about Arians' complicated offense, the deep throws are pretty defined reads, not progressions. I think that Logan Thomas can probably huck the ball downfield if he doesn't have to trouble himself with more than making sure that there is only one safety in the area instead of two.

Bruce has been incredible the last two years at creating a whole that is better than the sum of its parts.

I am not convinced of Thomas's ability to climb the pocket with consistent fundamentals, and deliver an accurate strike down the field this year. Just my opinion. I agree that the throws on the offense are designed, but I didn't see enough in the preseason to believe Thomas has refined his footwork enough to complete them.

OK, here is the negative. Bruce Arians QBs take shots. It's all great right now, but we are on our second QB this season, and I don't think Stanton will hold up if he continues to take the beating that he received yesterday. I don't that this team can overcome year one Logan Thomas at QB which is what we could be facing with Arians downfield passing offense.

Every QB takes shots. Its football.

That's fair. I don't know what they can do about it right now. I would guess that if something happened to Stanton or Palmer had to go to IR we'd re-sign Lindley or something.

Nope, nothing to be done. My point is that it just seems to be the hazzard of Bruce Arians's offense, and it could wear thin if this year turns into a trend.

The worst shots that our QBs have taken have happened while they're running the ball. Sure, they've taken some hits in the pocket, but every QB in the league gets sacked & knocked down in every game. Both Palmer & Stanton need to protect themselves better when trying to run... Stanton didn't get down into his feet-first slide quickly enough & Palmer took on a DB leading with his shoulder and then landed on the same shoulder. We need these guys to run smarter to limit the chance that we have to rely on Logan Thomas or someone else signed off the street.

According to profootballfocus.com there were zero sacks, two hits and five hurries by the Niners yesterday. If Bruce Arian's passing offense is going to yield those kind of results, I think we'll all be happy with that.

Why is it taking someone so long to put together an "Arians Nation" ASFN tee?

Red kangol hat, white background.

Done.

Did he really get hit that much yesterday? He had the big hit on the run and slide which was a penalty. There was also the big hit he took from Willis on the next play which was also a penalty. However I don't believe he was sacked this game and I don't think the Niners knocked him down that much. Does anyone have the Niners pass rush stats for this?

The oline blocked extremely well yesterday and , IMO, were definitely the under the radar stars of the game. The Niners got ZERO pressure on Stanton without blitzing. They moved Justin Smith around, but it didn't matter as everyone blocked him well. My favorite was a block where Fanaika jarred him so hard Smith actually stumbled backwards a couple of steps.

Oh, and BTW, Veldheer was a beast. Easily his best game as a Card so for.

Isn't that the mark of great teams? BASK are doing what good, if not great teams always do...

K9 has to insist that the overall talent is mediocreand BA is doing more with less or else he would have to admit that Keim has done a quality job. And he's been ringing the "Keim sucks" bell since the day he was hired

Fact is yes BA is killing it. However Keim did in fact hire BA and the talent is light years ahead of where it was when Keim was hired 18 months ago.

Like I said in another thread recently, this staff has to be a great bunch of teachers. We've never seen a Cards team where you can basically count on the backups coming into the game and not making a bunch mental errors.

No GM or head coach is going to get it 100% right. But, the tough mindset of our guys make up for the misses they have had on the personnel that they have bright it.

Here is a quote from AZ Central today: Arians, when asked about Stanton saying he didn't know if the coach liked him when both were with the Colts in 2012: "I didn't. His wife's great, though." :biglaugh:

Pretty funny. He went on to say that Stanton took Luck under his wing, unprompted, when Luck was a rook and even though he knew Luck was going to relegate him to the bench (again). Stanton's a character guy, just wants to win ballgames.

Well, that is something to go back and look at it. It seemed more to me, but you aren't the only one pointing it out.

Thanks for the info.

Correct. SF beat writer said that Kaep basically saved 4 sacks on his own.
