Boldin showed great character and a team-first mentality, like  some of us said he would  and we listened quietly while some of you prattled on about how he should be dropped or traded, etc.. Please admit you were wrong, assuming he stays in voluntary camp like he says he will, and PLEASE NO MORE about Fitz being a better player at this stage than Boldin, or BJohnson even being a GOOD 3rd receiver option.. remember Frank Sanders had almost 130 catches his first 2 years[ 50+and 73] versus BJ closer to 80 his first 2 years...It's good to see that we men can admit we were wrong...

I will say what other's have

I SAW NO POSTS THAT SAID HE WAS A BAD WR, all said he was a good or great WR who should basically stop holding out considering his situation. I think you would be hard press to find someone on this board who doesn't think the guy rocks at WR.

"..And in this corner.."

Jetstream;
How many posts did we read about people saying they were going to burn his jersey, throw it away, sell it, etc? I know all of the true fans here just exaggerated their feelings from the frustration from wanting to car-bomb his agent[just kidding], and knowing how important it was we got Q here as I believe in my heart he is the offensive heartbeat of the Cardinals!! One of my earlier posts today on the "Green wins staredown..etc." mentioned that none other than Emmitt Smith took Michael Irvin aside[MI was there for a Fox interview] and bade him speak with this young manAQ, he is going to be the next Great WR in the NFL, "one of the best to ever play".. Some fairly high praise from the Great Emmitt...
The Main thing, is that now we have Boldin in the fold and can sign him basically at our leisure, it cancels out Rosensuck anyway!! Rock on Jetstream..

Agreed. Just because he decided to pull his head out of his...butt... it doesn't change the fact that he still decided to not show up for a few weekends ago. Yes, people can change their mind...but he got what he deserved. Happy he's back though.

I think most of the fans that post here feel that not showing up to mini-camp was flat wrong. Also most of the venting was aimed at "if he holds out" and not just because of the mini-camp.
The angst of not showing up to training camp was putting a big smudge on an otherwise beautiful picture.

The ironic thing? It just goes to show you how much this organization has changed. Two or three years ago we would have been screaming at the top of our lungs to give Boldin the key to the city, anything, to get him signed.

I think the fans have finally noticed that management is doing everything possible to put a winner on the field, thus an unprecidented support for the team on this issue.

Was a contract signed? Am I missing something?

Let's put it this way . . . 60+ other players attended the voluntary mini-camp two weeks ago, Boldin didn't. Media was all over Boldin with several articles citing the Cardinals as being in the right. In the end, I think Boldin came to the logical conclusion that he should be at the training facility.

When he was threating a hold out -- which he did start by missing the mini-camp -- I wasn't happy with his decision. It now appears that he will not hold out.

In the end, Boldin accomplished absolutely nothing by holding out two weeks ago except drawing unnecessary negative attention towards him. Now, we'll just move on and forget about it.

I really don't see your point...

Ask yourself one question. What makes Boldin's hold-out different than TO's, Walker's et al's situation?

Boldin was holding out on a team that WANTED to give him a new deal. Everyone else was holding out to force negotiations - Boldin was holding out IN negotiations.
That's the difference AND the reason why Boldin has taken so much heat here, in the local media and in the national media.

He's my favorite Card, I hope he signs. That said, he hasnt signed anything yet. If he holds out he will be on my list courtesy of the agent he hired.

There were plenty of posts questioning his ability. There was a post that said that his making the Pro Bowl was not an indicator that he is a diffference maker. That poster summed up the ProBowl selectees as making it due to favortism and ignorance. That that honor meant nothing.

IMO the holdout ( weekend),was just to say we have to move things along. I don't and never have believed that Q would hold out when camp started. Frankly, I was a little surprised he came in this early. But, thats the nature of this very , very good player. He loves playing the game, we don't know and never will, but what ever he had discussed with the agent turned on a dime when he realized he wanted to be here. I hope we sign him to a 4-6 year deal and I hope it's done before camp opens.

He hasn't signed anything because there is nothing to sign. He's already under contract. I never did understand all the uproar over missing a 3 day mini camp in the first place.

I like the way the Eagles are dealing with T.O. They told him they were not going to redo his 6 year contract period!!!! The Eagles announced it publically. McNabb publically said they could win with T.O or win without him. Rosenhaus made a big mistake on this one with T.O. He has more of a case with Boldin only having two years on his contract by Boldin has only one good year behind him and knee problems and he is no T.O. at this point so I do not redo his contract. I see how he performs this year and give him a new one next year if he proves he is the real deal.

THE team our Cards have told Q they want to do an extended deal. THis has no resemblance to the problem with TO. He signed a long term deal just last year! The Beagles would be setting a very bad precident if they give him anything. That's not how it works. Q on the other hand was told that a deal can be done because even thow he had an injury last year he still had almost as many catches and yards ass Fritz who played every game. Q does not equal TO .

Ever heard actions speak louder than words.

He's been back for 2 days now. He's missed more than that. Don't go crying "love him love him" till he proves himself. I am not happy with his attitude. He should be greatful to the Cardinals for drafting him, giving him a chance to play football etc.
His interview he say's. "..business is business...this is a business."

he's made more in his two years than you'll make in your LIFE. Feel sorry for him..Hell no! Jealous of him...hell no, but he needs to recognise how good he's got it.

I want the TEAM to win, I care not who's in the Uniform.

I will add that the Boldin situation was starting to look like it could get ugly. Boldin not showing up, the media all over it, Green making comments about Boldin's absense. But returning to practice, Boldin took the right steps to move this issue out of the spotlight.

Now, hopefully, the team can focus on the upcoming season and continue to work on contract negotiations in the background.

Typical YOUNG ATHLETE mistake...

is what Q is guilty of...he listened to THE A-Hole that he just hired and the advice was not well thought out by Q. He wants to remain a fan favorite and I think he believes in the system...he WAS WRONG, he made a mistake and he is trying to get past it.
Let's see how it evolves before we take either position on what he really stands for...don't get me wrong, he is a HUGE part of the system here, a tremendous athlete and a class human being...just needs to mature and not get lost in the agent-recommendations...HE IS THE BOSS OF ROSENSCUM and he needs to keep that perspective. If he performs and stays realistic about his expectations he will be a rich young man who can be a perpetual pro-bowler...just focus on the game and his contribution will warrant everything he gets...

actually - that's you imposing your thought on the post but whatever. I stand by what I said - Boldin's a very good WR - very good WRs make the Pro-Bowl - but very good WRs ARE NOT DIFFERENCE MAKERS BY THEMSELVES. The position of WR gets too few touches to be a difference maker UNLESS you have the talent of a Holt, Harrison, Moss, and TO. I don't think that's really in dispute - I've said it before the contract thing and I'm still saying it - but it's not a slam.

He has great ability as a receiver but, if he isn't man enough to honor his contract, especially with a team who is willing to negotiate a new one, then he deserves flack from the fans. And don't forget, no matter how good he is or how much potential he has, he's only one guy. Personally, I think the Cards have quite a few players with his potential but you don't see them trying to force an issue. Right now, Quan has lost some respect with some of his fans and he needs to earn it back. Just my opinion.

I already ate my crow.....it was a little dry.

Here is the post!

What can I say?

I was wrong. I thought it was over, that Boldin had turned to the darkside, ala Vader.
:doofus:
I have been ripping on the guy for weeks but what can I say. I think the TEAM is great this year, with or without him they have a shot a the playoffs.

With him back in the lineup we should be favorites for the NFC West.

I was a fool not to believe. Boldin just go out there and show the world what you can do. The $$$$$$$$$$$ will be there.

Peace

Owens is an ass. According to ESPN the Eagles would have worked a new deal but except for the way Owens was acting. Boldin is not Owens. You dont treat an ass and a good guy the same way.

Too criticize the holdout is one thing. To denigrate his play as a tool to criticize his holdout just makes the person making that claim look foolish particularly if that person had been praising him just a year earlier.

Renegotiated contracts are a way of life. Well run teams do it and poorly run teams that wont will drive away the good players. I am glad you folks who dont believe in renegotiation based on principle alone dont run the Cards. If you did run the Cards would be known as bad place for players considering the other teams renegotiate contracts. It would put the Cards at a major disadvantage in getting talent.

Why dont you go face to face with Boldin and question his manliness?
