It seems like Philly should have tried to get JR Smith or Nene.

Nene is overpaid. no sense in taking on ANOTHER $50mil center, when its going to be hard to move the first one.

i am surprised that JR Smith wasnt included though. Philly should have gotten Miller/Joe/JR/First for AI/Henderson

Denver will be an interesting team. The West just got a lot tougher.

and the atlantic got a whole lot crappier. i was thinking about this today and the winner of the atlantic is SCREWED. lets say NJ manages to come out on top with a 34-44 record (projected). they would miss out on a LOTTO pick because they made the playoffs.

Scary Matchups

Nash------Iverson
Bell-- ---- JR. Smith
Marion----Anthony
Diaw------Nene
Amare-----Camby

I would assume we would be putting Bell on Iverson, but JR would KILL nash with his athleticism. They have pretty scary rebounding abilities also.

Honestly, having Miller in there in place of Iverson is not that much worse. DEN was already a scary team in terms of matchups with PHX even before the trade....

On paper Denver is great, but they lost their only real passer while they have too many players who need the ball. Time will tell how it works, but I'm sceptic.

Denver is beyond scary now. Those first rounders are going to be late picks, and Andre has 2 more years left on his deal.

Philly got fleeced, they would have been better off doing a complete salary dump. Whats weird is I heard that there were definitely at least 2 teams with better offers on the table. They must have REALLY wanted to send him west...

I know that Nene's overpaid, but I heard his name in every trade rumor, so I'm surprised that he's not included.

I think that the Nuggest will be better, but I'm not worrying about them too much. The Suns, Mavs, and Spurs are still the class of the west, and Utah's still the best team in that division.

Hoopshype.com had Miller only having this season remaining. Joe Smith is a FA also.

well, at least we'll finally be SOMEWHAT tested against a team with NBA players again tomorrow. I was seriously starting to get sick of us playing everyone with completely depleted teams - it was getting boring. Should be interesting to play Iverson on his homecourt in his first game.

oh - and put me in the column that thinks Denver just got a lot better. George Karl is a great coach - he'll get Melo and AI to learn how to play with each other and bottom line is the Nugz weren't getting any better with what they ha d- it was the perfect time for them to take a risk of this sort.

We better get the #1 seed now.

Assume Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas and Utah take the first 4 you get Denver, Houston or the Lakers right now in the first round unless you win the conference.

Well I dont care about Houston or the Lakers but I wouldn't want Denver in the first round at any cost if Camby is healthy and there is a chance Utah doesn't get homecourt and we could meet them. Utah, Denver are 2 teams I dont want in the first round. I'd still take us over either especially Utah but lets not get the toughest first round matchups.

I think this may be a good deal for both teams. The Sixers were going to screwed no matter what they did, you always do when you trade a superstar. I suppose they feel like they'll have a lotto pick of their own, plus w/ these two other picks, maybe they can move up...or just draft a few players in a very deep draft. From the Sixers stand point, this move is like when the Suns traded Marbury, its a salary dump that will hopefully allow them to be active in the free agent market.

Denver could potentially be scary now. AI isn't someone I would ever want on my team, but he is scary...I don't want to be facing him in crunch time. If Karl can figure out a way to get Melo and AI to share the ball, and be happy, they could be quite good. This move will probably also allow the Nuggets to stay afloat while Melo's out. Furthermore, Denver wasn't a championship caliber team before this deal, and I don't know if they are after, but I like that their front office is being aggressive.

Any word on when AIs first game is? I hope its not until after Phoenix plays Denver!

you think AI is going to play tomorrow?

rarely do you see a guy traded one day and suited up the next.

I want no part of the Lakers or Denver in a first round series - especially if both are healthy - let them beat up and scare someone else while we play either the Rockets (who we own) or the number 8 seed - as long as we get the first or second seed, there won't be anything to worry about in the first round.

no way AI plays tomorrow, the trade isn't even official now and he will have to do a physical. In fact all of the players need to go through a physical because they can play for their new team I thought.

i thought the game was on Thursday - no probably not - which means we'll be playing an even MORE depleted team. Ugh. I just don't want to face Dallas, lose for the first time in 20 games and hear everyone say we beat nobody during our streak. You know that's going to happen (although, I have a sneaking suspicion that the streak ends against the Wiz on Friday).

I expect Denver to win their division even after Utah's fast start
