Pro Bowl voting means jack squat these days
So how do you explain it?

Explain what? How Levi is an average player? I'm sure it has to do with talent
Then how did he become a pro bowl alternate in 2009?
playoff teams ALWAYS get players on the Pro Bowl team who have no business being there.
There simply aren't enough good left tackles in the NFL. If you really think Levi is an average player or anywhere near average, how can you be in favor of letting him walk without a backup already in place? Overpay if necessary and live with his shortcomings while you find or develop a replacement. Anything else seems incredibly shortsighted, IMO.
Steve
I think there's some truth to this but why Levi and not Lutui or Sendlein? I'm not trying to confrontational but I don't think Levi is as bad as many are saying he is. I don't want him on the left side but I do think he can be a good to very good RT.

because of his high profile draft?I think there's some truth to this but why Levi and not Lutui or Sendlein? I'm not trying to confrontational but I don't think Levi is as bad as many are saying he is. I don't want him on the left side but I do think he can be a good to very good RT.
By playing Right Tackle.
Has no bearing whatsoever on his play as a Left Tackle the last two seasons.
I agree. That's why I want to keep him and move him back to RT.
I don't get it. Are you arguing that Levi wouldn't have given up so many sacks if we ran the ball more? In related news, you'll get less traffic tickets if you don't drive...
I laughed, but this statement is so true. Logic would say Levi is more valueable to the Cards than other teams seeing how he has been in the sytem for 5 years. But some team will pay him to 8-10 mill year, we'll go with Batiste and then turn around and spend 12 mill on a guy similar to Levi in next year's FA class. But Levi is gone. We've seen how much money our guys get when they hit free agency and there's no way the Cards would or should pay Levi what some other team will.
you seem to be on this whole running game kick pretty hard, huh? I do agree, we should run the ball more. And I hope we do more next year when we have beanie and Williams both healthy. But the giants were the worst rushing NFC team in 2011. They finished pretty wellMe- Vince Lombardi and any coach not named Whisenhunt or Glanville knows for a fact that a one dimensional passing offense Kills an oline and ESPECIALLY THE TACKLES - and make no mistake about it- I am argueing that this was and is the most one dimensional passing offense in history!
We had the least rush attempts and was last in rushing yards for 3 out of 5 Levi years! The defense didn't have guess- They never even had to play the run- They teed up against Levi Brown every single down. I'm shocked - am I the onmly one that watched theses stupid games?
We had 10 rushes against the Saints the in our last playoff game! That is a record in playcalling stupidity - that only competes with Haley's stupid Kurt killing playcallin when we collapse in the 2nd half of 08- before We established Edge and tore through the playoffs. just to abandon the run early and lose a close Super Bowl.
Last in rush attempts last in the NFL in rush yardage. And we went to the Super Bowl and playoffs with this oline protecting the most immobile QB in the NFL. yea Kurt had a quick release but , DA, Max, Bartel, not so much.
those expert quotes suck cardinal! They don't have a clue what they are talking about. Levi out produced every tackle in the NFL without a run game! WE HAD THT as a starter both years, He was the worst starting RB in the NFL.
And our coaches designed this on purpose, they need kicked in the nuts!

I sure hope the Cards plan isn't to suddenly expect Bridges to morph into a legitimate starter because he's been in the league since 2003 and hasn't been one thus far. But, it wouldn't surprise me either. I think the rookie Martin will be the starting LT next year and am okay with that.or maybe not...Given its the blindside I'm thinking Bridges or a rook gets that call.
agreed. Woodhead is the Pats starter, right? I doubt he'd be a starter on any other team. But he was on Superbowl Sunday for Tom Brady's team& 8 of the 12 playoff teams were in the bottom third in rushing attempts including the Taints. Thesmel still thinks this is the 70's. How many playoff games have the Titans & Jags sniffed recently?

The problem is, Cbus, that Bridges is a better starting LT than Brown is, but Grimm and Co. have been loathe to replace Brown just because of their mindless infatuation with him. Now, Bridges is no world-beater, but I'd rather have him in that spot. And actually, Bridges did start (with Carolina, I think?) for a while.

who is? I know statistically that he was the worst in 2010. But I haven't seen any stats for last season on himI have never seen proof of this. I said it in another thread, but take the emotion out of it. You are letting your "fan" warp your perspective on Levi Brown. He is not the worst LT in football, probably a better fit at RT, and was an underachieving top 10 pick. Those are facts. He is durable, can start on either side, is a decent run blocker, and is under 30. Those are also facts. In the end, he is the best OT on our roster, and possibly the most reliable option in free agency. How much is all of this worth? I'd want to pay 6.5 million, be ok with 7, but he probably gets between 8 and 9 on the open market.
