Amare also agreed and accepted the ruling by the league last year to suspend he and Diaw. Doesn't surprise me at all that he said what he did.

Smart players know when to flop, and when to push. It's a little bit like Jujitsu.

Is that you TimVP?

Of course he agreed with that ruling. He & Diaw clearly broke a cardinal rule.

At least he is showing some mental smartness here by saying the right things in these regards. He is already in refs bad book apparently by complaining too much on the court.

I really doubt Amare agrees with Shaq, he's just trying to say the right things so our big guys don't pick up fouls at an even more alarming rate in game 2......but it might already be too late.

It's been said many times in the past year. But why was Duncan not suspended when he left the bench area earlier?

Cardinal rule? Nope. Interpretation. Amare and Diaw did not leave the bench to, nor did they participate in, a fight.

As a basketball referee I must tell you firsthand whenever a player moves into a position that he has not fully maintained and he flops it will always be a blocking foul. Lets be real when you see a big guy get blown away like hurricane andrew just came through its bogus. On the other hand if his position is maintained and he falls or staggers back then that player has done his job and will be the recipient of an offensive foul.

Then you must know just how bad NBA officials are. Let me re-phrase.
You must be able to recognize the inconsistencies and apparent agendas going on every night.
It's like watching 48 minutes of make-up calls one after the other based on player & team reputations rather than rules and regulations.

I would not complain about the officiating in that first game. There were good/bad calls on either side. If my memory serves me correctly the only call again Shaquille O'Neal I thought was bad was the Oberto flop.

Dont forget Timmy got tagged with a bad call on what looked to be clearly a block. Suns arent the only recipients of blown calls.

those are the fouls that hurt. shaq has 1 already. the floppers intentionally go after people to flop & draw another foul, just like in that case.

And Stevie (Nash) doesnt ? Nash flops because of what reason............? Because he's deficient in defense and his flopping rewards the Suns extra possessions. When's the last time youve seen Stevie block someones shot or play good aggressive lockdown defense ?.....................(crickets) (frogs)............you havent. So what works for Stevie instead............throwing himself in front of an opposing player attacking the rim. Its all he knows (defensively).

yep you got it.
he rotates on D very well.:)

he's not playing pro-ball because he's a mad shot blocking machine.

atleast he takes it full on contact. squared up, knee into his chest. no flying arms, no bull-crap screams.

The difference is Oberto is like 250 pounds and 6ft. 10in. Those falls are typically BS when he does it. A dude that size is not getting knocked down as often as he does.

could work just as well for Parker too. guards arent meant to block shots.
i think you're just looking for a reason to single out nash and be right/argumentative.

go away...

They're just playing Good Cop-Bad Cop with the refs.

Guys, not to be 'that guy' or anything, but the refs were not the reason you lost on Saturday. I hate the Spurs as much as anyone, and feel the refs give them the benefit of calls more often than not. With that said, the calls seemed to be pretty even throughout. The only thing I thought was weird was that Timmy was pretty demonstrative when he whined about calls, and never even sniffed a tech.

There were questionable calls both ways, and it really didn't seem like the way the calls were made gave either team an advantage. With that said, it took them a borderline miracle shot (Tim's first 3 of the season) just to send the game to double overtime. I still think the Suns are the better team, and will win the series. Hopefuly for your sake you can finish it off before game 7, because it will be very hard to get calls in a game 7 on the road in SA.

Its not called pretty even, unless Duncan picks up a quick 2 or 3 quick fouls and plays 5 min in the first half. Come on they do this every freaking time our big guys against the Spurs mysteriously always pick up a quick 2 or 3 and end up on the bench. Our game is hugely affected against them when we have to double Tim, which is the reason he had 40. The game was pretty physical which is fine but they have to call it both ways can't whistle us for ticky tacks but not for them. Whatever same ole NBA officiating BS.

the refs were not the reason, agreed.
TD is always whining, never gets T'd up. coach Pop walks half way across the court, doents pick up his 2nd T.
what i hate is cheap flopping, there's NO foul, but its called. i can understand there being a fould & adding some acting/floppling.
i did get sick of the make up calls that TD rec'd, 3D's 3rd & 4th fouls. if you noticed, 3D's fouls were IMMEDIATELY after a TD foul.
