MJ was OK for jordan, scottie for pippen, kobe is used much more than mamba. I dont know why amare thinks he needs a special name. When somebody refers to a player as amare or stat, EVERYONE knows who that is. Amare should just let his play do the talking, its has been plenty loud lately.

That's a great article. Sounds like Amare realizes that he hasn't been a great defender in the past and is looking like he's really wanting to become one. What a motivated guy--I'm so happy he's a Phoenix Sun. And since his new nickname is Sun Tzu, he can never leave. Right?

I agree. I think way back when I wanted his nickname to be Nightmare (or The Nightmare) as well. It could be a play on his first name if a French pronunciation is not used.

I once heard EJ say that the reason most opponents fear amare is that they are afraid of being posterized on ESPN, so they freeze just for a second fearing that they will be posterized.

So how about the "postermaker", or "posterizer".

Or he could be called the "predator" like in shartzeneggars movie, he just moves faster than destroys his opponent. the problem with predator is that it has another meaning with a bad connotation.
