i could see the suns draft pick from this year and the TE for wilcox but not much else. this is a player that rumor has it that the clippers are really disappointed in his basketball IQ. and are looking into trading him because of this issue.

I seriously don't think that the LA Clippers would give the Phoenix Suns Wilcox unless the deal was just unbelievable. Think about it. Right now the Clippers think they will be competing for one of those last playoff spots in the West. Without Amare Stoudemire it's likely that the Phoenix Suns will also be competing for one of those spots. I don't think the Clippers will do anything to help them.

I say play the guys that are already here. If Lonnie Jones doesn't sign with Sacramento after preseason, grab him. :)

you're right, about 1.3 million.

Another option: Antonio Davis after the Knicks buy him out for the minimum, if they buy him out.

Unlikely, but a lot more feasible than Skinner.

I am like thegrahamcrackr when it comes to Wilcox. I wanted the suns to draft him if he was available in the draft. He went ahead of Amare. ("WHEW")

I agree with the TE and the suns first pick. I do not think I would give the other pick which could end up 11-15.

Wilcox played very good last year in Brands absence. He is somewhat of a high flyer and can score.
I think he would fit the suns style better than the Clippers style......(whatever that is?) he can really run the floor and could help the suns.
He has never received the playing time he needed to improve his game because they play Brand and Wilcox gets just a few minutes.

He has a salary this year of $2,812., and next year $3,577. If he played well he could be resigned, or traded after that if the suns were not happy with him.

If the suns think they need to trade someone, the player I would trade from the new players we have would be Diaw. I would not trade Jones at all, he is going to be an excellent player in another year.

This is the clippers we are talking about. They would love the idea of trading a player before they have to pay him, especially if they get picks in return instead of salary.

I could see it happening around the trade deadline or even earlier if the clippers aren't competing with us for one of the final playoff spots.

I do not think the Clips are as worried about competing with anyone as they are the salary they have to pay.

The suns may wait for some time to see how the team plays without Amare.

However, if the suns can get someone like Wilcox right away, he could learn the system during the pre-season games and workouts that do not mean anything in the standings, and be ready to play well during the starting season. Otherwise it takes new players quite some time to fit in and they really are not much help for a couple months.

It is a good thing we made the Kurt Thomas trade or else we would really be up a creek without a paddle in the middle.

Here is another outrageous proposition on my behalf but it is one thing that I really regretted the Suns did not do last summer. Reacquire Antonio McDyess. The Pistons signed Dale Davis over the summer and also have a guy that could turn out to be a low post monster in Jason Maxiel. They may be willing to part with Dice, not sure what the cost would be.

He would be the only guy out there that could work now and in the future. With a rotation of Kurt, Dice and Amare, after the return from surgery, that would be very similar to what the Pistons had last year with the Wallaces and Antonio.

Any chance the Suns could put something together for a Drew Gooden or Melvin Ely? Exemption a 1st and???

The Cavs won't part with Gooden right now, Varejo is still out.

I would much rather go for Wilcox than Ely. Charlotte would most definitely give him up for a first rounder.

Charlotte is saying that Ely has come into camp in the best shape of any of their players. This is build up because they are willing to trade him.

Charlotte gave a 2nd round pick for Ely to the "Clippers".
That was a steal, because he is worth more than that. He would be a good pickup for the suns. I do not think he is as athletic as Wilcox, but he is a young big body that can score inside.
Defensive wise Wilcox is better, but neither are defensive minded....:)

I do not think Gooden is going anywhere.

Gooden has extremely high trade value right now, so I can't see the Suns being able to afford him. At the same time, the Cavs don't have much quality depth on the inside.

Maybe we can get Lonnie Jones.

I've read several articles this summer that say the exact opposite. From what I've read, they've been unhappy with him for some time now but have not been able to find any takers for him. I know Roy Williams had a lot of problems with him in college. Plus, Jerry West gave up on him only a few months after wasting a high draft pick on him and he didn't last very long at his next stop either.

As long as Jerome James strolls this planet, Gooden won't be the primary candidate for the Head & Heart Transplant Club but he can't be too far down that list. I'm sure there will be some other sucker that will gamble and trade for this guy but I really hope it won't be the Phoenix Suns.

Here are some names, I am not going to justify them, because we need to be open to all options, either trade or signing.

Antonio Davis
Jared Jeffries
Joe Smith
Reggie Evans
Raef LaFrentz
Tony Battie
Kelvin Cato
Melvin Ely
Chris Wilcox
Jerome Williams

Evans isn't possible since he signed a 1 year tender.

Raef would require tading out Marion

Battie, Smith, Cato, Williams would require a high salary player moving out, not using our TE.

Jeffries, Ely, Wilcox are possibilities since we can use our TE to get them. Of course, Ely and Wilcox are the only ones available.

The Suns have already slotted Shawn Marion as our starting Power Forward . . . and he's accepted that for another season.

I just hope that he moves back to the "3" for good once Amare is back and ready. And I hope that it doesn't cause too much of new chemistry in the frontcourt when other teams are set and ready.

Of course, there is no way around it.
