Asudevil83 thanks for refreshing our memories. It seems alot of the fans (including me) may have had the same ups and downs as Amare may have experienced.
Also Treesquid, I compliment you for sticking with Amare when his recovery seemed to be in doubt.
I guess only time will ultimately tell if Amare has the great career all Suns fans want for him.
I guess the crux of my concerns about Amare and the idea of entertaining trades was as I expressed on October 27th, 2006:
If healthy, Amare could be the most dominant player in basketball. If not, he could be another Penny Hardaway. There is some logic to both points of view. I wanted Amare to be the talented big man the Suns never had and for him to lead the Suns to a Championship. I guess it all depends on how one sees Amare's career playing out.
Anyway, I see D'Antoni and perhaps the team running out of patience. I do think that Amare needs to be the focus of a team's offense to be effective... something that I do not see happening with Phoenix now or in the foreseeable future.
I guess I'm really glad I was wrong about the "foreseeable future" part. I don't mind admitting that Amare is proving me wrong right now... and I'm very happy for it. However, I'm glad I said "Amare needs to be the focus of a team's offense to be effective" .... and D'Antoni made the decision to start him.
Sadly, I worry about Amare constantly when he is on the court and I guess that means I would always have to listen to trades offers. I will say this, someone would have to make an offer that I couldn't refuse for me even to consider it.
