America West Arena question

I heard there is going to be major renovations to America West, is that true? If so what are they?

Here's a pic of the east side entrance they've been working on for a while now. It used to just be a brick wall.

Under Construction

As America West Arena undergoes its exciting transformation, here is a list of dates for the various construction and renovation phases. These dates are the current best guesses on when construction will begin and be completed for the various projects. For updates, please check back on Suns.com.

East side renovation
Began: December 2002
Completed: October 2003

North side renovation
Begins: May 2003
Completion: November 2003

Plaza renovation/
Pavilion entrance construction
Begins: November 2003
Completion: April 2004

Now if they could get the price of tickets down, I could see the inside more than 3- 4 times a year - I'd go to watch the Grizzlies if I were in Memphis. Thank God for NBA League Pass!!!!

I have been down to AWA a few times and I have seen some of the renovations that have been done. I am very under-impressed. As a matter of fact I liked AWA more before the renovations. I think as it is, and it will be, AWA sucks.

Never been all that impressed myself, and I don't think these renovations will do anything to change that.

Remember watching basketball at Veterens Memorial? It wasn't all that long ago because I still remember it. Geeze, its a nice venue, what do you want?

The Suns have one of the oldest stadiums in the league (if you can believe it), wonder how many more years go by before Jerry wants a new place?

What I said was that I liked AWA as it was - I thought it was a great place. I think all the renovations are not adding anything to the place and I dislike the place now.

I like the new look on the outside. It was pretty plain before.
