Winning Friends and Influencing the People in My H
Taylor I think came to the realization that he isn't the odds on favorite to win after they showed the percentages and how close it really was.

His face was that of worry.

I really hope the closeness in the voting really pushes some great performances next week.

When Ryan asked Kat how it felt to have all those people out there for her was hilarious. She went home and to her high school. Of course there are going to be people there.

I'm going to guess beforehand that Kat and Taylor will be VERY close.

I'm voting for Taylor...unless Kat really brings it. Then I won't vote. If they both bring it, then I'll let others put theirs in.

I think Taylor picks up the vast majority of Elliots voters...he's more in line with what they like (plus the ex-Chris voters are very mad at Kat and will vote against her no matter what)

Votefortheworst.com has Taylor as the worst, so he will get votes there too.

A walk to the win for Taylor.

Way close voting.

On talent alone, it should have been Chris vs. Elliott!

I concur.

I think Elliott being voted off may help Katharine. Those that were voting for Elliott may not like Taylor. Their styles are VERY different. I would vote for Katharine just so Taylor didn't win...

Just my two cents' worth.

Taylor should win based on tonight's performances...

That last song by Kat was horrible.

I simply can't stand the "singles" the recording company chooses for these idols. It's like they don't even listen to the people perform, and chose the most gawd awful songs that suck hard with uplifting, stupid themes and slap them out as a single.

Kelly Clarkson blew up when she fired Simon Fuller, and took her second album in a direction she wanted it to go.

At least Taylor was able to "go Taylor" towards the end of his sappy, stupid song and it was more entertaining.

Taylor looks like George Clooney. Only what George Clooney would look like if he got punched in the face

You're funny

George Clooney is hot. George Clooney punched in the face--not hot. Taylor--not hot. I guess your analogy is correct.

I have to agree those songs are awful and always have been.

Kelly Clarkson blew up when she fired Simon Fuller, and took her second album in a direction she wanted it to go.
But with this I have to disagree. Kelly's first album, "Thankful", only went double Platinum. That isn't bad for a new artist. Here second album is doing well but it will be hard pressed to past the first.

At least Taylor was able to "go Taylor" towards the end of his sappy, stupid song and it was more entertaining.

Throwing out the "single" for each of them I think it was a pretty even night. I was disappointed because neither of them really stood out or did an outstanding job. I think it will be close with Taylor pulling it out. Kat will end up making the bigger splash but Taylor will still be touring when he is 60.

I agree with this assesment... I think it was a way less than spectacular night for either... Given the song choices probably the worst AI finally yet...

Kat should go simply for singing that "rollin' around on the floor barefoot" song again... It was probably one of her worst "next-day" reviewed songs and she opted to do it again...

It was successful, yeah, but that was also after all the hype from the show. It had two singles that charted in the U.S. and went double platinum. Two top ten hits. One grammy nomination. Not too shabby.

However....

Compare that to Breakaway, which is certified 5 times platinum (since Jan, so who knows where it stands now) and so far has produced five charting singles. Vastly more successful (and better) album. Two Grammy Awards, for best female vocal performance, and best pop vocal album. All of the singles released hit top ten, except for one ("Walk Away") which hit number 12. I think there are two more singles to come off this album, too.

There's absolutely no question as to what album is stronger, and its by a mile. What's more important about this second album though, is that she moved away from the Idol umbrella and found legitimacy. I hope her third album is as good as Breakaway...one track rumored to be on it called "Go" is being used in a Ford commercial right now.

I love Kelly...have since the start, back when AI was new and exciting. She's the real deal, and the further away from AI she gets, the more successful she will become...it's kind of the blessing and curse of that show. It will get you there, but to really be successful I think you have to distance yourself from it. My opinion, of course.

Oh no way...Black Horse and the Cherry Tree is a great song, and I like her version FAR better than the radio original version. FAR better...it's one of my favorite performances from Kat.

With that said, it didn't sound nearly as good as the first time. The bit that I heard coming in late.

Same with Levon...Taylor didn't sound as good this time. Nerves for both of them?

Neither one of them sang their first 2 songs better then when they did it the first time around. Nothing special from either one, not bad but not top 2 type stuff either.

Taylor won it on the last song without a doubt. Kat completely stunk up the joint with the last song. Even though it was a bad song to begin with so was Taylors but at least Taylor sounded good. Kat choked big time on here last song sounded really bad, the worst song she has done all season long and at the complete wrong time to.

THey should fire the AI songwriters, completely the wrong song for both contestants. When writing a song, I would think it would be advisable to write a song that suits the performers strength...

Rightfully, Taylor wins.

That was a freaking GREAT show. Downright awesome. Makes me actually want to go see the top ten live, and I've never felt like that before.

Good stuff...congrats AI.

BTW...Taylor's song will do well...after hearing it a few times it is much more listenable. Still crap, but he sings it well.

Congrats Taylor...

I'm an hour behind Phoenix (on TV, not real time) so I forced myself not to check and see who won. I loved almost all of the show. I felt everyone sounded great, EXCEPT the last song with Katharine & Taylor (I've Had The Time Of My Life). I thought it sounded positively awful. If either of them sang that in the competition, they'd have been booted.

I may scream the next time I hear "soul patrol"....good lord, I'm sick of that already. And what's with Prince? Is he too good to sing with anyone? I love Prince, but that kinda irked me.

Other than that--GREAT SHOW.

Great show, my wife and I enjoyed it....

I agree with the prince thing too, a freak... not to mention they had an interview with him like 5 weeks ago when they asked him to do the coaching, he rejected and said he did not like the show and thought it was a dis service to the music industry... then appears... hmmmm?

What was with Hassledorff crying?

Wow - ballsy quote. He probably speaks for a lot of musicians and songwriters who feel image has totally eclipsed substance in music. But consumers seemed to stop caring about music composition long before American Idol came along.

Haha. I just went to Home Depot and saw Gideon in the Parking Lot here in Memphis. People had just noticed him and were asking him for autographs.

Is the guy who won this, the guy signing on that new Ford commercial?? I just heard it on the radio, maybe I don't have an ear for talent, but that guy is not good.

100% sings better than he does.
