it officially jumped the shark tonight with idol saves the world - that mixed with really no one who grabs attention could really put a dent into this program

i believe simon would of called that fluff piece "rather indulgent"

Can't believe Sanjaya is still there... stuff like that does not do the show much good imo...
Sabrina too... She is easily in the top 3-4 female singers...
Still, the women absolutely blow away the men. No contest. There isn't one male that I would out ahead of the top 4-5 females...

i think 1 of 3 guys (Chris Sligh, Blake or Brandon) could probably crack the top 5, and with some off voting you might even get 2 guys in the top 5, but honestly, i don't think you will see any guys in the top 3 at all. this is Doolittle, Lakisha, and Jordin's to lose. i think Doolittle is going to win it.

I don't think Jordin is that good. In fact, I think she's going to be one of the first women voted off.

Although it was nice SDS/ASU and UoP/Cardinals got some air-time thanks to her.

Yup... Doesn't matter though. He's totally overshadowed by the ladies and rightly so. He won't go anywhere after the show...

I totally disagree. I think he will do great regardless of how far he makes it in the show. I obviously don't think he will win as the ladies are much more talented as everyone knows and has stated. But the guy has a lot of talent. I don't think he is exceptional at just one thing but the guy can do many things waaay above average. Look at someone like Kimberly Locke or even that McPhee chick as well as others who have experienced success since leaving the show.

If I were ever on the show, which is not possible, I really wouldn't want to win just make it into the top 5-8 people. How many of the actual winners have had more successful careers than some of those that finish in the top 5 or 6? Kelly Clarkson for sure but after that.....

A couple of surprises but Sanjaya making it obviously is the biggest.

Sabrina did nothing for me. I think she was just good at picking songs.

I'm going to miss Sundance though. Thought he was one of the better guys. At least he had some personality.

Her brother was wearing a Cardinals jersey so she gets my vote!

My wife thinks Doolittle is going to win too. I am a guy and therefore don't watch the show. But if I did I would think that Lakisha is going to continue to blow everyone away on a consistent basis.....if I watched the show :D

i'm a vocalist/performer so i watch it from that perspective.

Doolittle can sing - she's got great presence and a great voice. there is no way she should have been a backup singer. even if she doesn't win (and it would surprise me if she didn't) she is going to be huge away from the show.

Carrie Underwood is probably already the most accomplished winner - and she was just two seasons ago.

But to prove your point, Chris Daughtry (3) is doing much better than either McPhee (2) or Hicks (1) from last season. Talent beats schtick nearly every time...

For the record, Daughtry was #4 last year. When it is all said and done, Chris Daughtry will be the most successful of any of the singers. I think Carrie Underwood is good and a commercial success, but Daughtry is one of the best rock voices in the last 15 years. His album that was released in Nov is selling like crazy. OK, I am biased. I hardly watched the show until I heard Chris last season - then I didn't miss a show. He was amazing.

Sundance was going to be fun to watch this season... he made a mistake of singing 'Jeremy'... even casual Pearl Jam fans don't like that song too much. He could have chosen many different Pearl Jam classics that would have been much more mainstream. Simon hated that song (think he hates Pearl Jam).

My favorites this year - Lakisha, DooLittle and Jordan, followed by Gina. Sundance was the only guy that could have cracked a top three spot. The 'redeux' Justin Timberlake guy might be able to, only because little pre-teen girls watching the show like that crap music and buy it.

sundance had personality but dude struggled singing throughout the competition. he only had two good performances that they showed - his initial audition and then the song he did last week (the week before Pearl Jam). other than that he probably shouldn't have been in the top 24 to begin with although i was really rooting for him.

that "timberfake" guy sucks - he doesn't need to be voted off - he just needs to disappear...

I love the way she opens up when she is singing and then goes right back to being shy and insecure when she stops singing.

I call him K-Fed. He acts and looks just like him. I don't want to insult Justin Timberlake (who I actually like) by comparing that knuckle-dragger Chris(?) to him.

Sorry about that. Was Elliot 3? It is too hazy as I lost all interest when Chris was booted (minus "watching" Kat ;) ). I couldn't stand Taylor!

Well, we own both debut albums. Carrie is a success and has wide appeal and Chris is just a classic rock singer. I was kind of wishing he would have signed on for a spell with Fuel, as they write the perfect music for his voice, but alas it seems he will do fine anyways.

Yeah that K-Fed guy is annoying. He bobs up and down like a Pigeon. Drives me nuts. His voice isn't even that good.

Daughtry is the best singer to come out of AI. The guys has an amazing voice. It's probably better that he didn't win the show.

When he sang the National Anthem at the Cardinals game I was in Awe. Man that guy is good!

Tough to argue about Carrie but Kelly Clarkson has done quite well for herself. Also how bout Clay vs Reuben? What has Reuben done?

I really hope Lakisha wins but I fear she won't because she is a "bigger" girl. She can sure sing and I it seems as if she has a heart of gold. I really don't like this season though.

Thats because this year it seems that they were looking for a certain type of look to put in the top 24. Thats why k-fed and antonella were let thru. There were some that they couldn't ignore due to the fact that they blow you away with there voices. My top three are Lakisha, Malinda, Chris (i think thats his name he reminds me of Jack Osborn) but they are not going to be on the most beautiful people list.

Aside from maybe Jordan and one or two others, the rest of them just seem to suck.

I just can't see anyone who I like as I did in the past with Chris, Taylor, Ruben, Clay, Kelly, Carrie, etc.

It's a strange season. So many crappy singers in the top 12.
