What if we (Chargers) traded you Vincent Jackson + a draft pick for Fitzgerald?

VJ is a up & coming star but our gm AJ is all about "character" and VJ is not the best example for that. You guys can pay VJ top $$$ and he'll be a great target for your rookie QB next season.

Fitzgerald would be perfect for us. He's done enough in this league to play along with an elite QB like Rivers. Him & Gates would make it extremely difficult for opposing defenses to double either of em. Plus we have a good running game consisted of Ryan Mathews & Mike Tolbert so that will also be effective if defenses are worried too much about our aerial attack.

What do you guys think?

Portland Oregon these days.
By this sort of logic from the Pats Posting, all I have to do is go post "Brady to the Cardinals", give a convoluted 'it could happen' argument, and Pats fans will slit their wrists.

This technology and blogging media era has its plusses and minuses to be sure.

For one thing what constitutes actual "reporting" has completely gone out the door. The actual link actually says "nothing has been heard from the Cardinals but....."

I mean its as if all thse crazy theories we post here on the board are taken as fact and spread as "news". Its embarassing really.

Peter King just picks up on NESN report, and gives his perspective.

Larry Fitzgerald-WR- Cardinals Jan. 28 - 12:13 pm et

SI.com's Peter King suspects Larry Fitzgerald is going to "want out" of Arizona after his contract is up in 2012.
King's prognostication bolsters a shaky report by NESN.com that the Cardinals would be willing to consider dealing Fitz if the price is right. The franchise doesn't have a strong history of committing its full resources to winning, and Fitz has already let it be known that he's not happy about the QB situation. We wouldn't bank on Fitzgerald being dealt unless a contender is willing to overpay in draft pick/quarterback package.

If the Pats offered us picks 17, 33, and a 2nd or 3rd next year, it would be extremely difficult to turn down.

1st and 3rd this year and possibly a first next year would do it. Not sure the Cards can trade the face of the franchise for less than that.

I agree. Unfortunately, the Cards have zero leverage by giving Fitz his godfather contract last time. If there is a 50/50 shot he leaves, getting at least the packages described would soften the blow.

As if this season isn't a huge swift kick in the nads already. It is already understood this is just BS, and is really nothing to get bent out of shape about. More of a complaint about how this will be the headlines all offseason long. Nothing but stories about who is leaving AZ and how fast they can get out of town.

Seriously, so tired of this stuff.

I will tell you this, we have 2, count them, 2 core players. Dockett and Fitzgerald.

If Fitz leaves this offseason, I don't know how anything the Cardinals say or do will ever regain the smallest amount of trust in the organization, take away the "Same ol' Cardinals" mantra, or ever get the label of CHEAP off the owners of this organization.

Just a shame that this will be the "big news" from Arizona all offseason long.

:bang:

Perhaps one day the football gods will give us a player who wants to be "THE GUY" that turned this organization around and produced a Championship to one of the most unsuccessful sports organizations of all time.

Sorry to rant, but this week, strictly football wise, is VERY depressing.

Fitz said very plainly that this is not about money but about the chance to win a championship. He further stated he has all the money he will ever need. Unless the Cards can show him a QB it is very likely he will not sign with us. He may go through the motions but why should he sign with us when any team in the NFL would love to have him. How about the Colts, Bears, and New England for starters. He is at a point he is not into any team that is rebuilding. He is at the height of his career. I seriously doubt he will resign with the Cards but with all my heart hope so. If he is not going to resign then I hope he tells us soon so we can at least trade him and get some return. If we by some stroke of luck pick up a good FA pickup he might give us a thought but he sure is not going to stick around here with Skelton as our QB or even some of the done for QBs that will be available. He certainly is not into rebuilding.
