Maybe the deal doesn't make sense, but it's not because we didn't pay breaston. Edwards is an elite talent, breaston-- much as we like him around here-- is not.

That's what I was thinking......an upgrade over Breaston......so why NOT the same money????

He was terrible last camp, so always good to hear him turn it around. Probably won't amount to much, it's pretty common for a WR to dominate camp/pre-season but disappear when it matters. Speaking of which, haven't heard much of Stephen Williams recently.

Heard a bit on him. Basically he struggled against press coverage so he is trying to work on that aspect of his game.

They don't want the long term 5 year deal given his off the field history. They want him to prove his value as a person and a player both, and then extend him at more money if he earns it.

I don't think they worry about the dollars, it's the years.

That's my perspective at least.

Agreed... not giving him the years would hopefully motivate the guy to straighten up, get his act together and perform at the level his talent suggests he should! The guy had an incredible season back in 2007 with the friggin Browns (80 catches, 16 TD's, 1,300 yards and a 16.1 yards per reception average)! Last season he had over 50 catches, 7 TD's and a 17.1 yards per reception average.
There is no doubt he's worth a 2 year shot with $5 million guaranteed.

Hopefully he doesn't join Lance Long and Stephen Williams as the recent camp studs who end up fizzling in the regular season.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cards move on if Braylon doesn't sign by the 4th of the month. Floyd may still be in play.

I heard some high praise for our rookie WR Demarco Sampson by Bob Kemp. Said he is impressing people and getting a lot of reps and has great hands.

I heard that too. Kemp also said that he was impressed by Quan Sturdivant's performance in drills, but said that Sam Acho was getting torched in pass coverage drills (as expected).

Did Stuckey get any guaranteed money? It'd be a shame if we kept him over a player that outperformed him due to guaranteed money.

No one has outperformed anyone so far in any meaningful way. And, in the end, experience comes into the equation.

TE T Heap lessens the need for a wr. I'll have to leave this to Whiz. We need 1 wr to step up big time. If he is on the roster, great. If not, bring in WR B Edwards. Again, I'll leave this to the HC

Also, Andre Roberts looked like he might not make the team the last time they were in Flagstaff. It's a big jump.

Yeah huge jump, but it's not like we haven't seen this before.

Adrian Wilson was DOO DOO for years before his light came on. Fitzgerald had his moments early, but he was no world beater his rookie year.

I'm excited about Roberts, but I still think we should bite the bullet and bring Braylon Edwards in. A passing game featuring Larry Fitzgerald, Braylon Edwards, Andre Roberts, Todd Heap, Rob Housler, Early Doucet, and Ryan Williams should be pretty good if Kolb is even a respectable QB.

I will gladly take credit as being one of about three posters (the only other one I def remember was Mitch) who has pimped Roberts from day 1 :)

I disagree. We could run a permanent 2TE set (Heap-King) with Fitz-Edwards at WR and Wells-Williams switching out as single backs. That's a major triple threat offense, but I think running such a set requires two STRONG WRs....

Drawing any kind of conclusions from one day of camp is probably a bad idea.

We need Edwards. The offense becomes upper echelon with him.

Without him, we are pushing it and banking on huge strides from Doucet or Roberts. Furthermore, if somebody goes down to injury we become terribly thin at the position.

Cards need to help their investment (Kolb) and bring Braylon in

I for one am not basing any WR's performance on this camp. You have a backfield of a rookie DB Peterson, an inexperienced Toler, a midget in Adams and any other scrubs that they have signed in the last week. I for one will take any performances with a mound of salt.

Prediction: He's on the taxi squad, so to speak.

Fitz
Braylon or Floyd
Roberts
Doucet
Stuckey

Wouldn't surprise me to see Sampson & Williams be higher on the depth chart than Stuckey. Stuckey = Stinky, not sure what anyone sees in him, he had less yards per catch than Komar last season in a more stable offense.

I don't think that's all that's being said here. What everyone is excited about is the growth we saw in his game from last year's training camp until now.

Even early last season, Roberts was struggling, but by the end of the season he looked like a legitimate receiving prospect and a guy that could become a decent #2. His play so far is confirming that when you compare it to last years camp.

I don't think I'd call the Browns a more stable offense. Any team that starts Jake Delhomme and features Massaqoui as their top wideout is not a stable offense.

FYI the Browns have released Delhomme and are going with Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace.
