I don't think I'd call the Browns a more stable offense. Any team that starts Jake Delhomme and features Massaqoui as their top wideout is not a stable offense.

It wasn't more stable than us with DA, Midget & Skelton? They also had a legit running game with Hillis.

No matter how you spin it 8.7 yards per catch for a WR is terrible, not just sort of bad or below average but terrible.

I knew Sam Acho would be a bust :D. With Roberts, "if we're going to crown his ass" after one day of practice, we may as well call Acho a bust because he struggled in day one. I'm with Donald, the only thing I saw was Roberts dropping punts.

Not spinning it, just pointing out that they weren't the model of stability.

His 8.7 yard average is pretty far off the around 11 he normally gets. Not good either mind you, but adequate. I don't expect him to be a featured part of our passing game, just a competent backup wideout.

From ESPN:

Stuckey joined the Browns early in 2009 and performed well in his role as a third option in the passing game. Stuckey has adequate size and strength with good initial quickness off the line of scrimmage. He is very quick in and out of breaks. He can locate the open area in zones with good stop and restart ability. He is exciting with the ball in his hands. He has good lateral movement and run instincts. His strength has improved over the past couple of seasons but he can still be easily re-routed by physical press corners. He has become a better perimeter blocker in the running game and appears to be a solid overall performer for Cleveland.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

I was referring to their offense last year. :D

I watched all of the Browns games (had to sons are Browns fans).

Stucky finished with about ten more receptions than Massaqoui.....he can run and he can catch....what else do you want him to do?

I think Stuckey is a fine depth player, so what he does is ok with me.

1 Fitzgerald
2 Roberts
3 Doucet
4 Stuckey
5 Williams
6 Sampson

That's how I see it panning out, though Williams may be the odd man out in favor of Max Komar. Williams IMO is the favorite between the two because he has greater size/speed numbers. If we don't keep six, Williams may be the odd man out in favor of Sampson.

I still think Fitzgerald,Roberts and Doucet is a big drop-off from Fitz,Boldin, and Breaston.

But if Todd Heap takes over Boldin's role and Roberts is the replacement for Breaston then its not near as steep.

Steve Breaston signed a five year $25 million contract w/ $9.5 million guaranteed.

I am not sure why we would not want to make that deal if we really wanted Braylon Edwards. Here are their numbers head to head from last season:

From the way you've worded this, I really can't tell if your bemoaning the fact we didn't sign Breaston or arguing in favor of spending the money for Edwards. Looking at their head to head stats, I'm going to assume you're in favor of giving Edwards a similar deal. If so, I think most people consider him easily worth that kind of deal IF his off field problems don't keep him off the field.

What jumps out at me is the difference in yards per catch and difference in TDs

Edwards is much better, and he had alot more competition on the roster for touches with the Jets also throwing the ball quite a bit to Keller and Cotchery.

Edwards would've been more productive in our offense last season than Breaston would have IMO. He's a much more dynamic player, scores more TDs.

But Breaston is a good guy and Edwards is a turd, so I highly doubt we sign him.

After rereading my post, I can see that it was an awkward choice of words.

I get the impression that some people think that Braylon Edwards is not worth "Steve Breaston Money."

I would argue that based on his numbers, he is worth more than Steve Breaston and that type of contract would be a good deal for a player with the potential of Braylon Edwards.

I will gladly take credit as being one of about three posters (the only other one I def remember was Mitch) who has pimped Roberts from day 1 :)

I must be on your Catfish list. :)

I didn't have the exact same passion as you and Mitch but I knew he wouldn't be cut and that he was experiencing the rookie jitters/transition to the NFL. I also pointed out that even though he had a case of the dropsies it was obvious he was getting open a LOT and just had to get comfortable with his hands again.
