Did anyone hear that? He was saying that Fitz is having a good year but he really isnt impressed. Says that physically he wins jump balls and overpowers the DB but rarely just beats his man and needs to get better at that! These guys have been our Announcers several times this year too so he has seen a lot of him.

I would have to agree. He just isn't getting open.Perhaps maybe they should switch him and boldin... Put Boldin back in the slot where he ate up the middle of the field....

Give Fitz an offseason to improve his route running and to get stronger. He'll be a player.Prior to Boldin last year it was pretty rare for any rookie WR's to have much of an impact. We've had 2 good years in a row with production out of a rookie WR.It's even better when you realize who has been throwing the ball the last 2 years.

Not that I don't agree in some part with what was said, but I did notice that. Kind of ANTI Fitz, but not that bad.

Fitz is going to catch a lot of balls that would normally be dropped, tipped, batted down or intercepted by most other WRs, but I doubt we'll see many plays from him like the long TD Clayton had today.

Well he dosen't just beat his man and he rarely runs away from people on simple routes like that guy from Tampa did to us.

Boldin could before he was hurt but he is a much better all around athlete than Fitz before he was injured.

I like Fitz but instead of worrying about that fact just acknowledge it and get a speed WR to replace BJ in 3 wr sets.

We can afford a lower round project guy for this role because we are so set at the position but we absolutely could use a guy that can burn.

I did hear them say that and I also heard them say Josh didn't see the open receivers. On one play they showed both Fitz and Boldin open and the pass went to neither.
They have been our announcers for several games and the player they criticized most today was Josh. Even went as far as to say his late reads and pass's may work in college but not in the NFL.

Yeah I heard all of this too. My question is whether or not this is fixable on Josh' part? They really raked him over the coals for continually missing the open receiver. They also mentioned that he didn't look off his main target but instead locked on him. This should be fixable right?

I would have to agree. He just isn't getting open.Perhaps maybe they should switch him and boldin
That's precisely what the other FOX guy's response to that remark was - that the Cards have moved Boldin back into the slot to let Q be Q and Fitz outside where he can make Fitz-type jump ball plays.

I'd love to have someone who was at the game explain the difference in TB's coverage schemes and those in previous games. In the recent past, McCown would throw deep at least 6 - 8 times a game. Today, he only threw deep once or twice.

What was TB doing that was different? I'm assuming that we were taking* what their defense was giving us. (*Make that "attempting to take" - we took darn little today).

Jeff, they played a little more cover 2 today than we've seen the last few weeks. But, there were some opportunities there for us today. I thought McCown was back to some of the games he had pre-benching. Many times he just never looked more than one way, seemed to have his mind made up early to throw the sort route. IMO he seemed to be worried about the rush due to Wells being in for Davis.

Major props to Wells BTW. He was very good, although I think Rice's main goal was to keep clean and not get hurt.

.

That's what Pasch and Mistler said too, lots of cover 2, josh seemed either confused or afraid to throw downfield.

That's something that MUST happen next yr. IMO. Fitz needs to go outside.

McCown's history as this teams starter.

Way to step up Josh.

Josh had one of his poorest games. The O-line blocked well and the announcers commented on receivers coming open... Josh didn't get the ball to them. He also reacquired his batted pass at the line of scrimmage problem.

This game will linger in Denny's mind. Josh playing sub-par instead of growing into the job will bring a strong QB prospect in the of season.
