This time it was Micah Owings. What former player is next?

I thought tossing Micah Owings away was really stupid at the time. I was very pleased to see him push the D-Backs' noses in it.

I always liked him and thought he could turn out to be a decent #3 or #4, plus be a pinch hitter. So, the fact that he was the third player included was just plain dumb.

We should have at least kept his bat in the lineup and moved him to the OF. :bang:

Tossing Micah would not have been a bad idea had they kept Adam Dunn this season. At the time, we were stacked at starting pitching and about to reload with Scherzer (when and if he comes around). We needed a big bat to solidify the order, especially since O-Dogg went out for the year.

This is one move that I supported at the time last season. The follow up to it was ridiculous.

I'd like to see our manager pull a Billy Martin and yank an outfielder out of the game immediately after yet another lazy fielding play.

And as Lefty stated in another thread, plunk their next batter up after Owings intentionally went after our guy. Show some fight.

Scherzer is doing fine for a second year pitcher.

But I agree with you, if they kept Dunn it would still have been a good deal. But let's all be realistic, hardly anyone cared if Dunn returned or not. He did nothing to help the Dbacks. He's just on a tear this year, like seemingly every other former Dback.

Hinch seems to have even less emotion, or "fight", than Bob Melvin.

was definitely a good move at the time

the question isn't why did we let micah owings go

the question should be that when facing an average pitcher with a career ERA nearing 5 and a season whip of 1.415 on the season - how did they only get 4 hits, 2 walks and 1 run off the guy over 7 innings

there wasn't a single statistical area that micah didn't out perform his season averages last night

granted the defense helped him out a couple of times - but still - it's not that you gave away a great pitcher, it's that you made an ok pitcher look really good
