The Fitz negotiation did not stop use from re-signing Pace. Pace wanting and getting over 20 mill in guaranteed money for absolutely no good reason what so ever, did. No matter what happened with Fitz we were not going to pay Pace what the Jets paid him and he was going to be on another team no matter what.

Yep, Fitz could've played for free this year and we still wouldn't have Pace and Faneca on this team.

I'm incredibly disappointed with any player who holds out with more than 1 year left on a deal. I've always been incredibly harsh in my opinions towards players like that and I won't feel differently now that my favorite Cardinal is no longer my favorite Cardinal.

He can score 20 touch downs next year and get 2000 yards and I'll appreciate his effort, but I no longer have any respect for Q or Dockett. I will likely be giving my Q jersey to my brother in law (who just got season tickets and was telling me today he only had his old plummer jersey to wear to the games). I just can't respect it.

I'll stick with my Berry jersey. He got the big deal and let it go when he didn't earn it, that takes way more teamwork than any hold out. It is my prediction that the 4 weeks of missed time in practicing new plays between Q and DD will cost us a game. That is a big deal in the NFL when we've been 2 wins short of the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years.

Am I over reacting? Yes. I have a choice in who my favorite players are and I am the type who won't give money to a restaraunt that gives bad service even once, or purchase goods from a store that has 1 rude employee. The man love for Q is at an end because he is no longer man enough to do his job.

Ok.. soap box over.

Boldin just tired of losing. Who can blame him? Really? Either trade him to a team where he can win and have a chance at rings. Or show him Fitz money. 1 of the 2. I hope he does hold out. Its not like we ever win anything anyway. Whats the difference?

Strangely, I have no issue with what Fitz did. He was negotiating a contract because the Cardinals wanted him to. He signed a great deal in the first place for him where he had to do super well to make it good and he did. Good on him. He wasn't holding out, he would have been in camp with a smile knowing he'd get $18 mil.

The fact it went into the off season was on the Cards, they should have restructured him 6 months earlier... on the other hand I'm firmly in the camp that believes we didn't lose any free agents or players that we would have kept anyway.

I may not like what happened with Fitz this preseason but I don't see it as Fitz fault. The business side of the game I get, not showing up to the practices, I don't get.

Tigtoad, I'll keep wearing my Fitz jersey. Thumbs up.

Like it or not -- the team will have to draw a hard line on the whole "I want a new contract even though I have three years left on my deal" nonsense.

They have told Q they want to give him a new deal, and given they have stepped up in the past ( re-doing his rookie deal with two years to go), Q needs to give management the benefit of the doubt and show up at camp.

For both Q and Dockett, the path to a better contract runs through having a productive 2008 season and no place else.

Well,

He is still my favorite player on the team..... Cant see any reason he would miss 4 weeks of OTA's..... That does seem pretty stupid to me.

How can our team cooperate with a CONTRACTED player, in good faith, when he won't even come to practice?

Mark my Words.....This is good off-season fodder, but won't be an issue in 3 months.

Rolle is going to have a monster, monster season.

I can't wait to wear my Tecmo Rolle shirt.

And ignore whatever Gee posts about wearing colors blah blah.

I can't wait to see him playing safety. The dude was MADE for that position.

He is going to have a lot of help with the defense that we will be throwing at other teams. This roster looks MUCH different this year.

93 Campbell, Calais DE 6-7 282

59 Harrington, Chris LB 6-5 264 Texas A&M Houston, TX

79 Iwebema, Kenny DE 6-4 274 Iowa Arlington, TX

55 LaBoy, Travis DE 6-3 250 Hawaii San Rafael, CA

56 Okeafor, Chike DE 6-5 247 Purdue Grand Rapids, MI

78 Branch, Alan DT 6-5 332 Michigan Rio Rancho, New Mexico

98 Watson, Gabe DT 6-3 332 Michigan Southfield, MI

94 Smith, Antonio DE 6-4 285 Oklahoma State Oklahoma City, OK

92 Berry, Bertrand DE 6-3 260 Notre Dame Houston, TX

53 Haggans, Clark LB 6-4 243 Colorado State Torrance, CA

and that is without putting Dockett in there. He can hold out as long as he wants as far as I am concerned. Not, saying he is not a HUGE HUGE weapon on our DL/DE/OLB but that is the best talent I have seen the Cardinals put together in a long time.

Why should the NFL ban Drew? It is the players that hire him and let him do what he does. We need to stop blaming this stuff on the agents who are just doing there jobs and start blaming the players who employee the agents. The agents are just the employees.

The whole system is pretty odd and I can't blame the players for hiring the guy best suited to get them paid. Drew gets them their money.
It probably wouldn't be as cut-throat if the players knew they'd get a little more guaranteed, but understandably owners are frightened of doing such a thing with player shelf-life being a guessing game.

its just an agent, one who is good at what he does. I will continue to see anquan as a non issue just like he was last time he didnt like his cash flow.

It was an issue up to the day before training camp and he got his new deal. He said up to that point he was full well not planning on being in training camp. But he at least showed up to some OTA's that year.

This year he missed every single OTA and is already chattering about not going to camp, and he has 3 years left on his deal. All of that makes him not liking his cash flow on a whole different level then the last time. Without a doubt that is an issue. Especially since Whisenhunt himself said it is hurting his status as a leader and he is 4 weeks behind on brand new portion of the playbook and scenerios. Even if he does show up to camp the damage is already done and the HC of our team has stated that publicly.

IMO Q is a reciever and has been here for years. He knows his job and what to do and has pproven he can waltz into week one and dominate. hes not a struggling QB or corner who needs to see everything every day to struggle less than he inevitably will. Contracts are a part of football and holdouts happen, all I care about is what is put on the field.

The story is now on ESPN's ticker saying that because of contract negotiations he doesn't know if he will hold out through training camp. I think a lot of us knew this was going to happen after they caved on the Fitz deal. Hopefully it doesn't last until the first regular season game.

He can talk a big game but he will be at training camp and so will Dockett. They will not miss camp and take a, I believe it is a $15,000 fine per day missed plus the team can go through a arbitrator and have them decide how much the player has to pay back of their signing bonus minus the already incurred daily fines.

Problem is the playbook has been greatly expanded, and everyone else has been practicing it.

I also am of the opinion that Q is looking at his longevity in this sport.

The guy has had many injuries he has had to deal with due to his bruising style of play. I don't think he is on the downside of his career, but this year might be the last big contract and signing bonus he gets.

If I was him, with that injury history, I might be taking this type of stance as well. From a long-term perspective, if I was the Quan, I might be doing the same exact thing.

As far as Dockett goes..... He can climb a tree. Shut up and show me some consistency before I show you the money.

Well, NFL players dont hire Drew Rosenhaus so they can find their spiritual being. They hire him because he knows how to get his clients the money. No one should be surprised, but I think this trend of "holding out" is starting to get old and is not as effective as it has been in the past. Look at Chad Johnson. He was hell bent on holding out until he was traded. The Bengals FO didnt blink and eventually Chad bentand reported to OTAs.

While both parties are negatively affected in a holdout situation, the team has the cards. Not only do the players get fined an excess of $15,000 per day missed, but their signing bonus could be jeopardized. Not only that, a player's contract does not expire until he plays it out, so really he cannot sit out an entire season.

So what should we expect? Either a short hold out or no hold out at all. The Cards have made it abundantly clear to the world that Dansby is the next to potentially get a new deal. Boldin and his agent will probably figure out soon enough that they will eventually get to Boldin and he will do the responsible thing and practice with his cohorts.
