Quan has changed his tune since 2004, when he told me he was going to play out his rookie contract, play out a 2nd 5 year deal then "get into business".
I guess the L Fitz deal got under his skin - remember "$ = respect"

If this was Larry Fitzgerald doing this he'd be villified. Fitzgerald got roasted for having a contract that paid him too much money, a contract the team gave him--not one he held out for after already signing another deal. Boldin is trying to make more money on a deal he agreed to at the time, can't fault the team in this instance.

Dockett is even more ridiculous.

To me this is shaping up to be ugly and I would not be surprised if both players are about to start their last year with the Cardinals.

the argument is pointless to me, I didnt roast fitz either. Contract issues are meant to be ignored.

If it is a concern of the head coach then it is a concern of mine. Like I already mentioned in my recap of Whisenhunts interview he is not going to take the time away from his other players to teach Boldin or Dockett what they missed. He is moving on. He also mentioned that he is concerned that what if it is week 2 and they need to use something that they practiced so they are comfortable with it in that certian situation, he stated he cannot count on a person that missed that. Playing catch up does not lead to a productive training camp.

Again if the HC says it is a concern to himself then it is to me as well.

It is coach speak, I am sure he is not too concerned about either player. Either way, I am not concerned in the slightest about either player. They will both be here and both could be in the pro bowl again this year.

But if Fitzgerald actually EARNS a new contract and holds up the start of Free Agency it is OK to hang him and try him for treason ?

That, is what we call a double standard.

And sorry, there was NO offer during the season. Boldin/agent said he didn't even want to talk about a new contract till after the team was done dealing with Fitzgerald.

Boldin and his agent made the decision to wait and now they are angry that they have to wait too long. That seems to be a very small window of oppourtunity to get a blockbuster deal done.

And I don't think Boldin or his agent is a complete idiot. They should know that the Cardinals getting Karlos Dansby's deal done would free up more money that can be given to Boldin.

To hold out of the entire OTA's and be considered the captain of our team is bush league. I understand "it is a business", and that is the way the NFL is these days, but if Boldin wants to be held at a higher level then he should have continued to do things diffferently. Like come into OTA, anyway knowing the Cardinals promised to get him a new contract.

The city, fans, organization, and entire team has rallied around Boldin. There is no indication what so ever that the Cardinals are not going to give him his money. He IS the face of the franchise. Yet, he still holds out.

If Boldin is soooo tired of losing. Then he should look in the mirror. These are the little things that hold this organization back. When we spend the season talking about an inch here, a bounce of the ball there, a catch that should have been made, how we could have been 10-6, etc., etc. This is where the problems start. If you REALLY want to turn the corner, and you are really committed to winning then the right thing to do is be with your teammates, ESPECIALLY when the organization has gone out on a limb to say they are going to get a deal done.

That being said I am more angry about his "threats" to hold out of mini-camp. I hope it doesn't happen. Because if Boldin shows up to camp then this all goes away. It is a flash in the pan, a small smudge on the resume.

Finally, I am not concerned about the well being of his family. The guy is making millions of dollars already, and is a lock to make millions more. I think they are pretty well off, and not to worry about rising gas prices, failing economies, etc., etc.

He should get his arse into practice for no other reason than he is our CAPTAIN!!!!!! I don't think ANYONE has a problem with Boldin asking for more money. He deserves it. The issue is with his attendance, his leadership, and his loyalty

I wasnt mad at fitz either.....

98% is arguable but for arguements sake lets say he is. He doesnt play in 98% of the games like the 2% of WR's you have put into his category.

Lets say that everything else you say is true and he needs to be paid like a top WR and so on. Every offseason the cap and some other WR's contract is going to make him underpaid for that season. Are we going to have to redo his deal every offseason? Is he going to want a new deal every 2 seasons so he can keep up with new top paid WR of the moment? Sorry but he still has 3 years left on his deal, he is going to have to live with the crappy deal he himself orchastrated just a little while ago.

I agree it is bad timing, what I do not agree with is acting like it is the end of the world. "losing respect" for him and complaining about his situation all day is pointless. I like Q for what he does on the field, the rest of the **** is for people magazine.

In what regard ? That we think we know it all, or is it the whole "He should do this," & "He should do that".

I will have to agree to the latter, but I certainly don't know it all. Far from it.

Jeez, If K9 was still around you would have a 50 page debate on your hands.

You could say he is better than 98% of the players in the league. As I said before the guy deserves to get paid.

Actually, I would have no problem with the situation if Boldin got stripped of his captain status. Then he could miss what ever time he thinks is best for him. But don't call yourself a captain and not be at every single team function. It is just not the way that kind of thing works.

I mean how fans get all maniacal over stupid **** like a contract holdout. All that matters is the season.

You cant strip his captain, only the players can. The players will be voting on captains soon, they will decide who gets it.

Give me 4 million and I would play or doing anything for free.

I don't know what I would need over 4 million dollars for in my lifetime....and that is being greedy.

2 million, or 1.5 million would be more than enough for a lifetime.

But as you said, and you are right, we are in our high and mighty mind frame when talking about this kind of stuff. Who knows what is going on in the mind of a pro athelete.

The only world I know is my little insignificant one, and in mine, if my captain on my rugby team didn't show up to 99% of what we had to do I would lose respect for him. Fortunately our captain is a real leader, and may be the toughest guy on earth.

But I guess if I look at it from another part of my life which is my work (Yacht Factory). I see that people who are stinking rich beyond their dreams, are like people from another planet. 2 million to them is chump change....it is "an insult". So, it is a clash of different worlds I guess.

we can talk about how awesome boldin and dockett are

Both are beastly.

Dockett has the quickest first step off the snap I have seen since Derrick Thomas.

Boldin.....well, Boldin should play until he loses his speed, and then switch to SS, and then when he is too slow for that he should play TE. Thus play until he is 48 years old.

look a million is more than enough for me too but we are worlds apart from football players.

Take your job for example, you have a buddy who does the same exact job and hell, tons of people who do the same job at the same level you do. Some get paid less than you but most elites like you get paid millions more than you. You have millions a year but they have tens of millions a year. You just sit there quitly, smile and enjoy your millions? I dont, too competitive.

After watching Dockett in the pro bowl just tearing apart offensive lines after barely getting in I believe as long as he matches last year he will shoe in this time. Being an afterthought that dominates brings tons of respect.

I wish I got paid millioins! :D

That is a wierd way to look at it. I couldn't see competing over who get the most millions of dollars.

As I said a different world.

But whatever. I guess I should wait to see what the team votes on as far as the captain is concerned.

I would love to see Dansby as the defensive captain, but offense will be interesting.

When you put Dockett, Waston/Branch, Smith, Okeafor, LaBoy/Berry, Dansby and Wilson in the box............it just gets sick.

You can't leave Dockett one on one with a guard, and you can't leave Branch/Watson one on one with a guard, and if you pull the RB in to help out the situation that leaves at least one of our OLB one on one with a tackle, and if you send Wilson off the edge or Dansby up the middle..........well ask Detroit about it.

Even if you were better qualified than they were? I think you would want more money than them. Even when you have millions, if you should have more millions, you want them.

If i had 4 million I would invest it and turn it into many millions and give millions to my family etc....

Nope.

I would be happy with what I got. 4 million? Jeez....as I said I wouldn't know what to do with it. Maybe get a 65" TV, pay off my house, fix it up a little, get two new hybrid cars, invest some of it.............retire and play rugby untill both my shoulders fall off, or my feet finally explode but playing rugby is cheap.

negative 18 yards rushing is an amazing statistic.

Screw statistics. Just look at the pressure they were getting on teams in the beginning of the year. It was insane.

The beginning of last year was like watching some crazy team from another planet.

They were running the ball well, and had a great pass rush. It made you think twice if you were watching the Cardinals......at least until Rackers missed a FG.

I believe you are one in a million my friend. You could make me the richest man in the planet and id still be interested in investing it to make even more. I am not greedy at all really, I just like making money and spending it on my fam and friends.

cry baby Boldin has no one to blame but him self!!!!!!!!!!!! He should have played out his deal and hit the free agent market.

The cards did not hold Q down and make him sign the deal.

He should be mad as hell at his agent......not the cards.

I am taking the cards side on this one. We should be giving RG a pat on the back for working such a great deal with Boldin. They used the greed of one man for the benifit of the team. He could not wait to get the cars, and the houses, and all the bling bling, and RG took advantage of it.

If you look at it, The cards have been doing it right the last couple of years(DD,Q,A-Dub), yet they are getting no love from the fans. Let me be the first......Way to go RG and the whole front office

Thats greed....I think

I am with rugby on this one. I could sign a 5yr/15 mill deal and never have to invest one dime, and live a great life.

how do you make 20 to 40 mill in 5 to 12 years and be broke by the time your 45?

I would make a Scrooge McDuck moneypit of gold coins that I could swin in.

Since we are off topic anyways I would probably just keep the modest home I have now as a place to just rest my head every now and again. Modest enough that I dont have to worry about its upkeep while I am off spending my money traveling the world.

I tell everyone if I every win a 5 Mill lottery I am paying off all of my bills then spending the rest on a 2-3 year kickass time span seeing the whole world in style, just me and my kid. After two years I am off working like a regular joe again but with no debt.

Forget my family (Mom, Dad, and kid are excluded from this discussion when I talk about Family they are a different story). Those beggers can get their own money.:D

The only thing I would give my family is a college education if they want it or a college bond for the little ones until they do go to college. Teach a man to fish and they eat for a lifetime.
