The Twitter account for Becht described the Cardinals as "sweating" and the Philadelphia Eagles as "in control" during trade talks for quarterback Kevin Kolb. There was praise for other teams as "proactive" in their quarterback searches after having months to formulate plans. There were harsh words for what was characterized as an unwillingness to pay for Marc Bulger last offseason (Becht and Bulger were teammates with the Rams).
Since when did this guy become a GM consultant?

This article smells of bias and bitterness. Sando implies as much.

We'll see how it all shakes out in the end but I get the impression Whiz, Graves and co aren't the most organized bunch. I don't for a second believe the Cards are sweating this, but part of me also believes Wiz and Graves were expecting the Eagles to give up Kolb on a silver platter.

How could he possibly be correct based on personal knowledge? How would he know any more than we do?

True dat. He only worked for the Cards, we have the INTERNET and our opinion!

My guess, as long as Orton is still available, AZ in control. But if he's gone, Eagles will control and we may have to give in.

Does anyone else feel like we've been too fixated on negotiationg for Kolb that we haven't even considered negotiating for Orton until Kolb is no longer an option? I've got absolutely no basis for this speculation, just feel that this is the case. : /

The longer this takes, the more I believe the deal is done long time ago and they are just delaying it to avoid tampering.

I have been away from the board for a while but been following this Kolb thing and Becht is correct in the sense that the Eagles are in control. They dont HAVE to let Kolb go right now. At some point, as the year plays out, the Eagles will begin losing control b/c they wont get anything for Kolb when he becomes a FA.

Im starting to wonder if there is a backup plan here. Love to have Kolb and think he has the biggest upside of any of the other QB's but frankly Orton is not that big a drop off and all he does is win.

btw, Kolb won't be FA next year if they put franchise tag on him

If Vick gets a long term deal done with the Eagles (most likely outcome), why would they tag a another QB and pay him the average of the Top 5 QB salaries in the league (roughly $16 mil 100% guaranteed)?

If Philly decides to hang on the Kolb, they get nothing for him next year.

The leverage game has an additional cost to us. Every day that our future starting QB is not on the roster is 1 day further behind the learning curve he is going to be whether it is Kolb, Orton, or someone else. If we play the leverage game with Kolb and end up getting a good deal for him, but not until the end of preseason, then it's going to cost us wins.
