yesterday. The guy had nothing but good things to say about the Cards. He's having a party in OKC next weekend in Bricktown, I think it's a benefit. he mentioned Larry Fitz and Curt Warner and others being there. The local host was playing up Andre Johnson, and Antonio said Boldin and Fitz were the best he's seen, but looking forward to watching the new guy. I'm happy for the guy, he deserves it....:D

What exactly does he deserve after 4 years of VERY VERY average football?

I think he will be ok with Williams hogging the other side of the line. Inconsistent, but ok.

He will be exactly what he was here. He will be lucky to get 5 sacks for the year.

C'mon Shane, we're talking about what, a 5th or 6th round pick? Antonio while inconsistent last year during the season was one of the best players on the defense in the playoffs. He went out and got paid, good for him. I wish we could get this average performance out of all of our late rounders.

Are we bitter or what???? For a 5th round project pick, the guy turned out pretty good. He was consistently in the backfield even though he never had high sack totals. I think he turned into a solid player. You guys mad, because he left??? Get a grip.....:D

If we didn't have Campbell, I think losing him would be a huge killer. He provided a lot of pressure and I think he will do well with the Texans, especially with Mario Williams.

Just a case where you have to take money over your team. He did good things for the Cardinals, and should be a solid player over in Houston.

:lmao:

Boy is that revisionist history at its finest. Round he was selected in was irrelevant to me and still is. Players come from all rounds of the NFL draft. He had a fantastic 3 game span in the playoffs(dissapeared in SB AGAIN). Thats really about it and his calling. It got him paid and I am happy for him. But I dont see how he really deserves anything?

Smith is what he is. A capable but average starter. Nothing more or less.

He worked hard to get there. He's capable of being above average like you said during a lot of the playoff run. The Steelers make many players look very average and so did we during our SB run. We came this close though.:(

Yep, he beat the odds. If you remember that draft, Smith was the only pick that was really criticized because most of the "experts" thought he would be an UDFA. In order to become a starter he busted his ass. I, for one, consider the play he made in Carolina to be THE defensive play of the playoffs (narrowly beating out the Dockett and Rolle play against Atlanta).

He's done fantastically well for himself, and he was a damn good guy to have on our team. I'm happy he got a contract that set him up for life.

Capable in spurts is all fine and dandy but dissapearing for games at a time agaisnt teams that ARE NOT the Steelers is quite another. 14 sacks in four years really speaks for itself IMHO.

Yep Im happy for him too. Just dont pu thim on the pedestal some people around here do. He is exactly the type of player that should be quite easy to replace with that level of production.

Your response is a better way of explaining what I was trying to say. I think he'll do well in Houston. The guy is a team first kind of guy.

Production wise he's replaceable.

But I love his personality and attitude. That's not as easy to replace (and it is important) but it seems that Calais has the same enthusiasm and will be the same kind of locker room guy.

I wish all the best for AS

I still wish we had A.Smith.. But not for the money he got.. No way we could send out money like that to every one of our players ..

As long as A. Wilson, D.Dockett, A. Boldin, L. Fitzgerald and if DCR keeps his upward trend going, those guys are the ones that need to be here till the end of time.. To me, thats the core of the team.. Hopefully M. Leinart will get to play and be added to this list too.

Lets see how good Calais is before we knock Antonios production. If Campbell plays even close to what Antonio did last year as a 2nd year player I will be happy. Smith was a very solid player, many teams have those guys.

Obviously what the Texans paid him. The Cardinals were not going to pay him that much, but he played well enough that a team in need was going to give him some money.

I hope Antonio Smith does very well for the Texans. I am not surprised he was complementary towards the Cardinals in the interview.

We can argue back and forth regarding how good a player he is.

What is not in doubt is that he is a really nice guy. Down at Marley's this year towards the end of the season, during playoffs iirc. He arrived early and the crow was huge, he went around the place and said hello to every single person [or at least tried to]

Is this a typo or does the ex-Seattle star still get some celebrity appearances? The guy was actually a pretty good RB back in the day.
