I say give him a chance. Anyone who wears a suns uni doesn't deserve home town boo's. Heck i'd just be silent for Karl Malone or Danny Forston... ok MAYBE considerations. I'd boo the **** out of those two ****'s. But Dyess. He's cool. I hope he realized how much he screwed us and now owes us. Signing on for the reduced/min salary next season would be servicable to our needs.

I agree completely. I will be totally embarrassed if the home crowd boos Antonio McDyess. I'm not saying they'd need to cheer wildly when he enters the game, but they shouldn't boo him.

If Karl Malone was wearing a Phoenix Suns uniform I would definitely not be at the game. I would probably be sitting in my car in the garage with the engine running. :)

Ah, but everyone said that there is no way that McNugget resigns with us for cheap when I brought it up last season.

I disagree completely. I think McNugget will have a nice season and be willing to resign for around the mid level if we want to give it to him.

Ive been saying since the day he left that he did nothing wrong, and that there were other negative forces at work when he left.

It wasnt his fault, he did nothing wrong, and I welcome him back with open arms, as long as he realizes that he won't be the man here. He sounds however, legitimately excited to play with Amare and for COach D. Thats good.

i'm all for welcoming him back. really too bad about what happened. the fans should be booing van exel, and the rest of his crew that led him over to the dark side. if he can get back to 80% of where he was in his prime, i'll take him.

do you think googs will boo?

BC was on 910 yesterday and said the first thing he did was call Antonio and assure him that there were no hard feelings and he would start here with a "clean slate".

Well of course he's "very sorry"!

Mcdyess had a great run in Phoenix, did very well in the playoffs, and it looked like a shiny future in the NBA. He listened to his little buddy Nick and the agent who wanted to package them in a two-for, stuck it to the Suns bigtime, and then talked a lot about how happy he was to be back in Denver with all his old pals. He had a bad year there (no surprise) and it was all downhill from that point on, capped with the knee injury. Kid or no kid, he messed up early in his career, and blaming it on everyone else is a copout. He isn't what he used to be and he may never be back 100%.

I'd be sorry too.

Youre wrong. I lived in Denver at that time, and while he presented the facade of signing with Denver for the comfort factor, he was less than a season into that signing when word started leaking that he was unhappy and regretted leaving phoenix. He got raked over the coals as a young player. get over it.

Youre just pissed.

The first time the Nuggets played Phoenix early that year they interviewed McDyess and he made a point of sounding very happy about being back in Denver with friends. Through the course of that game he also did some serious taunting, kind of uncharacteristic but not surprising since he didn't get a warm reception.

I'm sure he did regret the move somewhere along in that season, who wouldn't have?

He is not to blame. We took a chance at trading for a guy with an expiring contract. We lost! It hurt like hell but thats the chance we took...

I am very interested to see Amare & Dice on the court together. Even with bad knees they would be a very talented duo, not to mention Marion at SF...

If Barbosa can play just solid we may end up being a better team than we were going to be this year.

Just in from ESPN.com...

Phx trades Shawn Marion, Jake Voskul, Donell Harvey, Tom Gugliotta, and Joe Johnson for

Karl Malone and Kobe Bryant and Shaq's jockstrap.

I disagree completely.

Why would a young, rebuilding team want to spend the mid-level on Amare's backup who would take away PT from Cabarkapa and Lampe?

The thing that I find interesting is that I agree with some of what Nick Van Exel and others were telling him. I didn't think he gets a star treatment he deserved, especially from the head coach. You could see that coming the whole season even though we were all shocked when it actually happened. Danny Ainge underused Antonio McDyess, and it bit the Phoenix Suns in the ass.

Am I the only one who thinks that Antonio could be an absolute steal?
If we can resign him for less than the MLE that could be the best signing the Suns made in years.

He won't be the same player he once was but he can still be a very good player in the frontcourt and give you a double double on any night.

:lmao:

You know what Joe. I said the same thing for YEARS about Karl. I couldn't stand the guy, the comments about Magic, my hero, after becoming HIV+, hurt the most. However, after having him on my team, even though it is just for a few short months. I love the guy. He plays basketball the way it is supposed to be played, and he has become the heart and soul of the team. They look positively lost without him. I am not saying I am right and any of you are wrong, but it is amazing to me that that comment made me feel like I was looking into a mirrior not to long ago.

If anyone comes to your team, and plays their heart out and helps the Suns win, I feel confident that the old "let bygones be bygones" might rear its ugly head for you as well.

McDyess won't be back next year, less we forget a little someone named Amare that plays his position

And? McDyess can come off the bench, backup Amare and play with Amare at PF/C against most teams.

I bet we will see a lot of Amare, Dice, Marion together.

A lineup of McDyess, Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson, and barbosa would be quick, athletic, and could play above the rim.

The real questions with Dice will be:

1. Is he healthy (and likely to stay that way)?

2. How much has he lost from his injuries?

3. How much can he be expected to produce?

4. How much will he cost?

I cannot see the Suns keeping both Dice and Harvey, but they will keep one if he is under $1 million.

A healthy, cheap Dice would be very valuable. Even if he is no longer as athletic, he was a pretty good shot, could play with his back to the basket, played D, and rebounded.

Would he accept playing behind Amare? It depends, He might decide that playing backup minutes would be a way to reduce the likelyhood of another injury.

A better question might be can he be made to feel guilty enough to re-sign for next to nothing this summer? :)

I just don't see the Phoenix Suns investing more than $1 million to re-sign a guy with as many injuries as he has suffered. I guess it really depends on what their goals are in the free-agent market.
