Any one else get annoyed with Player

I do not understand why a professional punter cannot 80% of the time be able to down the ball inside 20 when punting inside the opponents 50.

The second point is his poor effort trying to tackle a punt retuner who has broken through. As great as Rackers is at this there if very little effort from Player.

Player avoids contact even to the point of taking a dive to avoid making a tackle. He's frustrating but he's a good, if not great punter.

We think he always kicks it in the end zone but if you check the stats at the end of each year, he's always in the top ten in kicks downed inside the 20.

I never get frustrated with Scott Player. He does his job.

If memory serves me Player has been statistically in the top 3rd or 4th rated punter each of the last 4 seasons with a Probowl appearance. When the other 10 guys do not get there job done - He is not going to be a human topedoe. Virtually all his punts, with his lengthy hang, time make them nonreturnable when the coverage does their job and they are 45 yds plus. Take a look at the other punters and their stats - The CARDS have got one the top 4 punters playing the game.

This year the special teams has done a good job. Last year was haunted with terrible punt coverage. One of the problems was that when it came to game time the 10 other guys on the field were not the same guys who practiced punt coverage during the week and were not the most athletic. Concequently there was confusion, coverage people left there lanes and bottom line just disaster. This seems to have been changed under this regime - Consistency and much better production.

I'm pretty sure

he AND rackers have both been told not to do anything to get themselves hurt. If you've ever been near Rackers pre-game he looks like he's got a bit of a mean streak in him, so i don't know if they can stop him from balls out going after guys. Player looks focused, really focused, but not nasty. Anyway, my point is, Coach has probably told them to cool their jets a bit when tackling.
As for performance, I've never been happier with either position. they both play great.

I don't have a problem with Player either. I remember being at the Cards/Eagles home game in 1998 near the beginning of the season...might have been the home opener. Anyway, I remember watching Player pooch a 7 yard punt. Yes, only 7 yards.

Now he's a pro-bowl punter. He's come a long way and he's usually very very good at pinning teams back with poor field position.
