Anyone else agree with the team’s overall mentality?

After watching the post-game comments from a lot of our players, it was clearly evident all of them think they are the better team talent wise, but the intangibles are lacking.

So, I ask you, the fan. Do you think the Suns are better than the Spurs talent wise? How about the way they are currently structured (Mike stays and the core of the team comes back, maybe some minor upgrades to key positions) is it possible they can win a championship?

Y’all think I am a Shaq homer, but keep in mind, Shaq is still a force. He stills demands attention and a double team. They put this team together and changed their overall style on the fly; the end of the season was like training camp. Who is to say Shaq won’t gel more with the guys and Amare won’t become a better defensive player and Nash stops with the careless turnovers?

I like their odds next year.

Shaq is not a force, he doesn't require a double team, in fact hes a liability on both ends of the floor. He would be better served retiring and freeing up the cap space. But knowing him he will probably just force a trade to another contender then back stab Mike D and the rest of the Suns.

I think Suns are a more talented team, but they just don't have that killer instinct. Spurs are like sharks. They sense blood and they just rip you apart. Suns just don't have it. There is only one guy on the roster with killer instinct and he is too old.

Problem with next year is that Nash and Shaq will be a year older, we don't know if Hill will be back, same goes for Giricek and Skinner. We don't know what coach is gonna do with Diaw.

Can they win it all? Sure, but it's gonna take some money and coaching.

Oh, and Shaq is not a force. He is a good role player, and that's about it. He's better than Ewing, Hakeem and the Admiral were at that stage in their careers, but he is not a force.

I do think this. Nash is on the downside of his career. The Suns need a young PG to preserve Nash and be the future starter. I keep thinking the Suns should go after a FA PG like Arroyo. However, I know they will not want to pay him the market rate.

D'Antoni's top priority has always been to prove that his "system" can work, rather than to win at all costs. Popovich employed the Hack-a-Shaq because he thought it gave his team the best chance to win. He didn't care if people would say it was poor sportsmanship or ugly or would lead to a future rule change. All he cares about is winning.

When your team has that mentality, they go for the throat whenever they have the chance. If their attitude is to enjoy the ride and have fun and win some sort of bizarre philosophical brownie points, they're usually going to come up short when playoff series are on the line.

Absolutely true. Left to his own devices, D'Antoni would be perfectly happy to lose in the playoffs every year rather than compromise one iota from his system. D'Antoni's sole motivation is to prove that the system on which he made his reputation in Europe is superior to the traditional NBA-style. And frankly he doesn't care if this team fails year after year while using his approach, because in his mind the fault for that is any and everything else BUT the "Mike D'Antoni" way.

i think they are a more talented team just not mentally as strong as the spurs and NO Shaq is not a force anymore but i will go out on a limb that he will try to prove everyone wrong and return better (or try to be better) next season but at his age it is no longer what his mind wants but what is body can handle but for some reason i think he can still make a huge contribution next year as long as they stuck with the tradition of minute doses of Shaq during the regular season and not wear him down before playoff.
