Just got a call from a guy with the Cards, and he said that they are welcoming fans down to the training facility tomorrow to meet and greet E. Smith. If anyone is interested, it starts at 11AM. The more fans the merrier.

I'm sure Jim O will put out some sort of message soon.

Go. Make the guy feel wanted.

They should do this with every FA.

Heck...why don't we just go ask the Tempe Women's Auxillary to come out and present him with a gift they made in their crochet class....

The players as well

I feel the rest of the team needs to greet these free-agents, even better meet them at the airport!

I don't care if they sign SpongeBob Squarepants at RB. If it puts more Red in the seats that's a GOOD thing. We need every edge we can get, an extra 10,000 or more fans making noise is worth it. We have no homefield edge.

Problem is those extra 10,000 fans will boo every time except when Emmitt is touching the ball.

Think of it as a dress rehearsal for when a free agent we really want badly comes to visit. At least everyone will know where to park and to congregate.

Also - I'll bet that many fans who are knocking our bringing Emmitt in here will be the ones who moan the loudest if he decides not to sign.

Sorry AJ but the bottom line is that them inviting fans to come greet Emmitt is as big a joke as I have ever seen!

You are trying to tell me Graves says that they are bringing him in for football reasons and not to sell tickets and you or anyone else is going to believe that load of bull especially after pulling a stunt like this???

AJ RB is quite possibly the furthest down on our list from what any of our needs are on this team! In fact you could almost put it at the bottom of the list as an area that we need to make a signing or an upgrade.

Yet the Cardinals by pulling this circus are making it as though its the most important which is complete and utter BS!

Why on earth didnt they invite us to come in there and put a good show on with fans and support for the guys that we most certainly need more than Emmitt like Colvin or Holliday or Blake or Stewart??? The fact that we werent even given the opportunity to do that with these guys even though they are way more important to aquire for the well being of this team just sickens me!

I cant believe you are willing to sell yourself to this circus and fall for the if it puts more butts in the seats argument Im all for it???

If you think Emmitt will put more red in the seats, just look at what color the fans meeting Emmitt are wearing. It's not red, it's silver and blue.

This would be a slap in the face to loyal Cardinal fans. If he were in his prime, perhaps a different story, but he's not. He's a schill, a gimmick, and he takes away carries from Marcell Shipp, a player Cardinal fans have embraced.

This move is wrong on MANY levels.

Maybe they just thought about it.

In general it's a good idea, I'm prepared to leave the football decision to RG.

Avenger, Brighteyes and I will see you there

How 'bout cowturds instead.

In actuality, I wouldn't mind him here too much..Shipp is good, but to have a proven guy in here wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Lets not forget his ol has been horrible the past few years. Coincidently his numbers dropped off..Is he great anymore...no...but with our line, he might improve and be a good pickup. Gosh we have the cap room. I don't feel that shipp needs more development....he came in and did great...

As good as anderson and scobey could be, I would rather have smith. IMO.

If we sign him, maybe others will come here as well. Don't do it for just that, and increase of fans, do it if you think he can contribute something positive to the team.. I think he can. imo.

For the record I am quite happy with Shipp am not saying that we should bring Emmit in.

But when a future Hall of Fame running back want's to talk about coming here don't you think we should treat that with some respect and listen.

Regradless of how much he has left in the tank, can anybody say that Shipp etc would not learn from him?

Shipp is great, but what if he goes down? We have two hobbits for back ups.

Emmitt could mentor these young players.

And if I am mistaken, which I've been often. Isn't it the butts in the seats that pay these big money players we so desperatly desire?

All within reason, mind you - but this is a no brainer - sign him.

It's the one contract that certainly pays for itself in ticket sales and gives the Cards added national exposure.

If we play well, win games - the national press would'nt be able to resist a season long feel good story headlined: "Emmitt leads Cards back from the land of the living dead...

If they come to root for Emmitt, they have no choice but to root for the Cardinals. What are they going to do - root for Emmitt NOT to score a touchdown because it will help the Cardinals win?

The hope is that -after Emmitt wins a couple of games for us, they'll be showing up to root for Emmitt AND the Cardinals.
