I have an idea where we can build a consensus NFL team by team draft for the 1st round.
It will be a poll that will last 2 days for each pick. After the 1st poll is picked the next separate poll will be posted. Rinse, repeat and recycle until the 1st round is done. Playoffs will be over and final draft order will be set by the time we get to the playoff teams position. Once a player is the consensus pick, he/she will be eliminated from the successive poll. Suggestions for nominees should be made for each poll. A trade pick option will be allowed.

Anyone want to play? Selections will be a public poll.

Here is the #1 pick by the Houston Texans.

Commentary on your selection is requested.

Coin flip to determine selection if the choice ends up a tied vote.

I selected Clowney, as a JJ Watts/Clowney DL could be scary. I actually think there is a trade down here and that could be with the Browns. They only move down 3 spots and could still get Clowney by doing so. 3 QBs could be top 3 picks.

I did as well, but I voted who I think they should take and not who I think they will take.

Clowney is the clear cut pick. No way do you pass up an opportunity to pair him with another freak in JJ watt. That would be a ridiculous line.

I think it is easily too early for such a poll to get even close to finding out how this draft is going to go down... but I'm game! They are going to go QB because people in Houston want to assassinate every QB they currently have on the roster. Seriously, QB is the most important position on the field and they get their first choice of powerful NFL currency. They are in position to not only get a young franchise QB, but amazing leverage by having such a QB on the roster for even trading purposes down the road lol

If each succeeding poll takes 3 days, then it has to start early. 30 picks @ 3 days each is 96 days. Draft is May 8th. Besides, our poll/draft could be the barometer for all other drafts.

He's almost in their backyard...it's gonna be Johnny Meziel :p

Funny thing is, is that for the Texans it is the whole Mario Williams and Vince Young dilemma all over again...do they go with scambling home state excitement in Maziel or dynamic pass rush Clowney lol

The differance is VY NEVER had the ability to throw the rock like this Texan can. He might fail, but his skillset isn't even comparable IMO...in fact JM is more elusive behind the LOS avoiding the pass rush, while VY was a runner playing QB. :p

Clowney should be the pick. Everything you hear right now is Manzier but that's likely a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Only two non-QB players should be considered at #1. Clowney and Matthews.

The Texans already have an all-pro at LT and DE, though Watt is an 3-4 DE. If Clowney can tranform into a 3-4 OLB, then he might be an option, but why risk it?

Keenum showed some promise, but not enough to pass on Bridgewater.

I went with Manziel because they need a QB badly and they won't get a chance to draft this high again for the foreseeable future. Plus although Clowny has mad skills isn't anyone concerned about his work ethic?

Johnny Football. The little guy is going to stay deep in the heart of Texas. The Texans need some excitement in the offseason if they plan on generating ticket sales. Plus for no other reason I don't want the Cardinals to draft one of the biggest draft bust NFL History.
