ESPN saying the NFL got the elevator tape in April

Goodell lied his ass off if this is true, whole new can of worms now.

The Commissioner may very well not have seen it. If some league executive decided to try to "protect" him by throwing it out or hiding it away somewhere.

Someone will take the fall for it, no doubt about it. But it may not be the Commissioner.

Can we change the thread title to Goodellgate? He kicked Rice out of the League and he may soon be out of the League.

The person played The AP a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: ``You're right. It's terrible.''

In the interview, he used the weasel term 'not to my knowledge' on a follow-up question on whether his office had seen the video. Interesting!

Goodell said he personally asked for the tape, but didn't get/see it.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.

They have all seen it is my guess.... Goodell and Harbaugh are terrible liars.

NFL office confirmed possession of the tape with an earlier voicemail. That lady asked him if he was afraid of losing his job yesterday, I wonder if he would change his answer now.

I don't know why Goddell would have to be fired, as he works at the behest of the League and not the other way around.

And the League, or "The Shield" as they are calling it today looks like they are down with woman beating, cover ups, lying to it's fans, and will deny deny deny even when the facts come out. Goodell hurt the League as much as Rice's video did by the way he unhandled the video... thus toast.

ESPN isn't reporting this as fact. They're reporting that there might be a single source who received the tape according to the AP.

Wouldn't be surprised if the source on this was someone in the NFL as a setup for the person who is going to take the fall for this.

NFL players get fined for avoiding the media and Q&A sessions. Goodell hand picks an interviewer and network. #hypocrite

As ugly as this is in terms of PR I do not expect him to lose his job as he probably didn't see it and was protected from seeing it. As for the idea of him being an incompetent leader if someone at the NFL saw it and he didn't know, he will spin that one away with I should of, would of, could of apologies.

Unless there is an egregious lie he is the CEO of a private corporation and his bosses are the likes of Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder who I am sure have an us against them mindset. Sure there are congressmen who will try to leverage the Antitrust exemption but these are the same bunch that turned their heads on Benghazi lies. In the grand scheme of Washington Politics this would rate as much-a-do about nothing.

He obviously mishandled this entire mess but at some point the media will hopefully refocus on the victims of domestic violence and remember Ray Rice remains the real villain and frankly zero in on the Justice system that for sure saw that footage and let this guy walk the streets. In criminal cases, the NFL always plays wait and see until the criminal/legal system determines a guys guilt. They claim to have a higher standard but they are a bunch of lawyers who are held accountable by the NFLPAs lawyers so they will rarely go out on a limb.

Anyone who thinks the NFL or The Ravens did not see this tape are only kidding themselves. And yes, I think Goddell himself had previously seen it too.

Now the interesting part coming up is will Ray Rice or his wife come out or slip up and say the NFL did see the elevator video... :grabs:

If Goodell has already banned Rice for pretty much life "publicly" after the elevator tape came out, Rice might be upset enough to let such info fly. But if Goodell himself was in on the "decision" to "allegedly" "suppress" the video, than Rice may not want to disclose that, especially if Goodell is in his ear right now saying Rice could be reinstated at some further point in time.

Would Ray Rice know if the NFL saw the elevator, are we to believe he believed they just never saw it even though the cops showed it to Ray Rice "allegedly"?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven.
