I completely agree. But let's not act like athletes don't party. They do. This is not a Matt Leinart cornered market like is being alluded to.

I also wonder when Matt is winning how many people will drop the Hollyweird stuff. I am positive it will be a lot less than should be. That's the internet age for you though. Babe Ruth and Joe Namath would have been villified on the Internets....

As soon as he sorts his play out, I'll drop it immediately. Until then, I'm on him like crazy. He clearly was not ready for the season, and why should that be? It's either because he's no good, he's not smart enough to have picked up the offense, his mechanics are bad almost beyond repair, or he didn't put in the necessary work in the offseason. I'd like to think it's the last, but only if he plans on, you know, actually doing what it takes to win.

I never, ever considered this an issue before, but when he sucks as bad as he has (this is way worse than what should be the normal growing pains, after we saw the strides he took last year), what else do you want me to think?

Leinart is going to be a damned good QB. But you need to know there will be bumps in the road to getting there. Most players don't get to take the Peyton Manning Super-Highway to success.

JMHO

Manning didn't exactly light the NFL on fire at first either, with his 28 interceptions in his rookie campaign.. Oh, and how many years did it take him to win a Super Bowl again???

How long did it take Elway? Or even better how about Marino?

PManning's Colts were 13-3, while ranking 19th in rushing offense and 18th in rushing defense, and Peyton threw for over 4000 yards his second season in the NFL. His TD INT differential improved from 26-28 to 26-15.

The best comparison for Leinart though should be Carson Palmer who came out of the same school and also was drafted by a team that had an even worse record over the last 10 years than the Cardinals.

One thing we do have to consider though is that PManning, Palmer, VYoung and Cutler all had the same coach their rookie and second season.

I believe coaching stability is the 2nd greatest factor in the development of a young QB, second only to talent!

I believe that it's a main reason the Plummer struggled so much.

Well, that and... (take your pick)!
