1. Drew Stanton, QB. I expect that the praise heaped on Stanton is going to outpace his actual production on Sunday. Keep in mind that this was the guy who got virtually all of the practice reps during the week. That being said, he played more like Kevin Kolb in Philadelphia than Kevin Kolb in Arizona, and that earned us a win.

2. Calais Campbell, DE. Calais is just a g-d stud out there. Has really stepped up in his role as a captain, and is the only thing keeping our linebacking corp from being a complete disaster instead of a non-factor.

3. Andre Ellington, RB. I think there might be a little bit of Ben Roethlisberger-itis surrounding Ellington's foot, but it's hard to imagine a more quiet 100-yard day than the one Ellington had yesterday.

1. Patrick Peterson, CB. If Patrick Peterson didn't want the added scrutiny, he shouldn't have accepted the huge contract. Peterson needs to realize that the officiating crew isn't going to suddenly decide to allow additional contact. His temper tantrums on the field were unacceptable.

2. Outside Linebackers, OLB. It's not fair to put a dunce cap on an entire group who can't do what is expected of them. But these fellows are constantly put in one-on-one situations because of the quality of our interior linemen, and fail to win. Not fail to win on a consistent basis, but fail to win at all. Really disappointing.

3. Safety play, S. So... how's covering the TEs working out for this group?

Peterson needs to step up, and I think he will. That "temper tantrum" was the product of sh!tty officiating, and I don't blame him for being frustrated. That was one of the worst officiated games I've seen in recent memory, for both teams, particularly in the secondaries.

I feel like you can copy/paste blurbs about OLB and covering TE. It's simply not going to get better. Jefferson and Deone were flat out owned by another mid-tier TE.

I swear, if I didn't have Jimmy Graham on my fantasy team, I would stream every TE that plays the Cardinals

I'd add Powers to that list. For all the grief Peterson gets, Powers should get it ten-fold.

Dude is flat out trash, and I'm wondering how he even made the roster this season.

Outside of the first 2 drives, it didn't seem like Stanton did a lot. Enough to win though. Didn't realize Ellington had 100 yds. Quiet, indeed :) Donnell had a decent first game also, so I don't know if it was just the Cards LBs. He's been a pleasant surprise for the Giants, except that his blocking is awful

Stanton managed the game. He made good throws and also made no mistakes. I wish that 35 yard pass to Fitz at the end of the 1st half stood, as that would've given us 3 extra points going into halftime.

This was a victory akin to the wins we got in 2011. When we won those games, the offense simply didn't screw it up while special teams and the defense made timely plays.

Not that we can't cover TE's isn't true, but Donnell might not be a mid tier TE for long. I picked him up on both Fantasy teams after watching him in Week 1, He is just one of those guys who seems to have a knack for being open.

We made him look better than he is and this is a UDFA who the Giants cut once already but they apparently said he was the most improved player on the roster to the extent they couldn't believe he was the same guy in camp this year.

He apparently missed the offseason wtih a broken foot and was playing catchup all last year, this year he's taken the job.

Stanton didn't lose the game for us... We now have won 4 of our last 5 east coast, 1pm start games! Seriously, when has this team ever been able to make that claim? Add to it the 4th in that stretch was won with our back-up at the helm.

PP, just like all corners, have their work cut out for them this year. I honestly can't believe the calls that are being made. If a corner simply looks at a WR the wrong way, a flag is tossed...This is another topic for another thread, but what the NFL is doing is so wrong on so many levels...

Lastly, regarding the coverage of TE's... I actually thought Bucannon was "there", surprisingly, on most of his coverage plays. Yea, the TE still caught the ball. But I thought Deone, for the most part and for a rookie, was in position more often than not. I was surprised and comforted to see that.

Campbell is a flat out beast! If he remains healthy, he will put up an alltime great season for an interior lineman!
Ellington is amazing and could be one of the great 6th round picks in the history of this franchise! Nothing would please me more than to see Keim lock the kid up on a long-term deal, sooner versus later!

My drafted TE is kyle rudolph. This week I picked up Donnell for NYG on waviers to play the cards and he scored more points than rudolph. Winning.

FWIW: I thought Deone actually did a decent job in coverage on the TEs -- the one catch I saw was the result of a good throw with a better catch by the TE.

I thought the o line was just okay. also FWIW -- Keim said this morning that MAssie had the flu but played anyway

Agree with the heroes, and if I had to give a 4th, I may give it to Tommy Kelly.

Goats...The pass rush is terrible. It is hard to tell how this affects our secondary which is why I hate to bag on them regardless of what they are paid. When you line up every play knowing you are going to have to cover for an extended period of time, you tend to play differently. Less agressive and more to prevent a big play. That is what I am seeing right now.

I think we are seeing the best that Tony Jefferson has to offer, which makes me think we will see Bucannon in the starting lineup by the end of the year.

I don't think pertain played bad at all it wasn't him getting abused. That touchdown was just a great catch. It's gonna be hard for our secondary period with no pass rush they go hand in hand

Powers definitely stood out for poor play yesterday and despite the pik he didn't play well the first week either.

Well, covering slants with no help from dropping ILB's, who are continuously blitzing or threatening, can't be easy. And Cruz is the Giants best receiver.

Hard to understand how anyone can logically bash our secondary when the opposing QB's literally have all day in the pocket. Coupled with the craziness of the new NFL rules that prevent a DB from merely breathing on a WR, just not sure how anyone can come down on a DB...

And giving up 17 and 14 points to Rivers and Eli? I will take that.

Our DB's must be really, really good to hold opponents under 20 with these new rules and no pass rush.

You can argue that veteran QBs are the ones who are in the best position to burn our blitz happy defense, especially when the pressure is not getting home.

Right. But did they? Rivers seemed baffled by same blitz at the end.
