2. Outside Linebackers, OLB. It's not fair to put a dunce cap on an entire group who can't do what is expected of them. But these fellows are constantly put in one-on-one situations because of the quality of our interior linemen, and fail to win. Not fail to win on a consistent basis, but fail to win at all. Really disappointing.

This is a huge huge problem. Without Abraham we are screwed. ZERO pass rush what so ever from this group.

I'd add Powers to that list. For all the grief Peterson gets, Powers should get it ten-fold.

Dude is flat out trash, and I'm wondering how he even made the roster this season.

This, this and more this.

At one point in the second half it honestly seemed Manning was just throwing to whoever Powers was covering. It was pathetic.

Right. But did they? Rivers seemed baffled by same blitz at the end.

Yup. That's my point. If we are giving up less than 20 pts to QBs who should be giving our defense fits, that is pretty good.

powers was completely awful out there yesterday. that said, he's not the highest paid CB in the league and is our number 3 CB.

I was saying this all offseason. Clearly Bethel didn't have the training camp that the coaches had hoped for, and Arians was just blowing some smoke on Powers being the defensive MVP.

That said, he's a third corner who doesn't necessarily have the movement skills to cover a guy like Victor Cruz and doesn't have the size to match up on someone like Randle. It's a bad matchup problem for him; one that won't be as bad against a team like the 49ers this week (maybe).

Hard to understand how anyone can logically bash our secondary when the opposing QB's literally have all day in the pocket. Coupled with the craziness of the new NFL rules that prevent a DB from merely breathing on a WR, just not sure how anyone can come down on a DB...

It's so funny that as I was putting this together, it was difficult to come up with as many heroes as it was zeros. Huge credit to the coaching staff to ensure that the whole is playing better than the sum of its parts. Even the offensive line looked pedestrian against a defensive front seven that's average after Pierre-Paul.

Agreed on all counts. PP getting exposed out there like his boy Sherman. Needs to step it up.

Heroes should include Cromartie. He's been, along with Foote, the best player on the defensive side of the ball this year.

We're talking 2 games... However, there is nobody on defense ahead of Campbell... It's Campbell and then everyone else...

Heroes should include the NY Giants as a team, for without their regular gaffes, we'd have gotten smoked. The Giants are severely talent deficient. We are hurting on the D side, and losing Palmer was a HUGE deal. I don't care if Stanton had all the reps all week. He hadnt played in a live game in almost 4 years!

Abraham is back and that in itself will help immensely. He's the only sack guy the Cards really have.

This is more of a coaching/GM problem. This is what happens when you ignore a position that needed attention. The group we're sending out there right now simply doesn't have the talent.

Stanton didn't lose the game for us... We now have won 4 of our last 5 east coast, 1pm start games! Seriously, when has this team ever been able to make that claim?

And that one loss was stolen from us or at least the opportunity to win it was by bad officiating.
