Steelers were just one of many to miss what this guy had to offer. I can easily imagine the Cards still wandering in the wilderness if he hadn't been signed. Funny how the whole thing happened because he was helping out a friend. I suspect he's not alone and that there are quite a few guys floating around professional sports who just need a chance. Joe Madden might be another example of a guy how waited a long time before the Rays gave him a chance.

Gotta love how candid BA is---he could have downplayed it and called bygones bygones. But, so true to form, he answered the question truthfully.

It's a curious thing about the Steelers feeling BA was "too close" to Big Ben. As a teacher i can tell you that saying a teacher is too close to the students is the first thing other teachers and administrators criticize about popular teachers.

However, no matter what profession you are in, forging effective relationships is the key to success....as long as professional lines are not being crossed.

It could be that BA got fired (or not renewed, that is) because he was perceived as a threat to Mike Tomlin. Head coaches do not tend to like coordinators who have the kind of swag BA does. And while the Steelers always say they prioritize running the ball---it's silly when you have a QB like Big Ben. Todd Haley passes the ball just as much, if not more.

I honestly don't think BA is carrying a grudge at all. He's elated about his career path following his tenure in Pittsburgh. He was asked the questions by Andrea Kremer and chose to be perfectly honest about how his being let go went down and what his feelings were about it at that time. It's this kind of honesty that endears BA to the players. As Honey Badger said, it's BA "being real."

The latest edition of HBO's Real Sports has a nice feature on Arians. Most of the same stuff we already know, kind of a shorter version of the "Football Life" show last year.. but his wife really calls out Mike Tomlin in the HBO piece. Worth the watch.

My understanding was that the Rooney's were pissed that BA wouldn't change his offense to give more protection to Ben. Ben had just been given the big $100MM contract, and the Rooney's were afraid BA's schemes were going to get him hurt. The previous couple of seasons, Ben took more hits than just about any QB in the league. Ownership felt they had too much invested in him for that. You know BA, he does things his way.

Tomlin wanted to keep him, but the decision to not renew came from above his head. BA (and his wife) were pissed that Tomlin didn't fight for him to stay after promising BA a raise, NOT that he got fired.

What a BS that excuse would be if true.... Id doesn't matter what scheme you run, Big Ben will always hold the ball too long... It's one of his greatest strengths.... And at the same time, one of his biggest faults.

The front office probably put some pressure on Tomlin to shake up his staff but ultimately it's the coach's decision.

This story is probably getting blown out of proportion but it benefitted both sides in the long run.

Screw Tomlin...he showed his true character against the Ravens by stepping on the field watching the big screen trying to stop that return then saying he didn't realize where he was. Yeah right! Lol
